Lmfao.

Probably the most bullshit fine out there. Any cop that pings you for that is an absolute campaigner.

What... the coppers actually gave enough of a ****?

Sure did my friend.... They were actually conducting a sting operation on the corner of elizabeth and flinders - catching people crossing the road from the train station.

I wasn't the only one busted. I saw more people busted the day after i was fined.

What a joke.

Someone at the CBD cop station has decided to conduct a sting operation. What a fking idiot. I'm in two minds about writing a letter to the police commissioner outlining the waste in resources, waste of tax payer money and more importantly the PR disaster this is.... Whoever thought this a good idea should be sacked.

Guess they needed to pay for a new squad car.

I expect they made money from the fines they handed out.

Yeah the did a sting operation that lasted a week when I was at tafe years ago. Biggest load of shit I've ever seen

They made money by fining the people who are paying their wages; seems like the long road to the same place.

....... get rid of them? Or enforce some police cut backs? and in turn cut taxes? or redirect them to things that matter like umm, health and education - (for fk sake) :D

Gee whiz. First it's the Ticket Inspectors giving you a fine for not having a valid Myki and you verbally abusing them, now it's the Police giving you a fine for not using a pedestrian crossing while crossing the road.

What's next? Police fining you for using a mobile phone while driving?

All that i'm going to say to this post about the "myki incident" is that i DID have a valid myki card. This was acknowledged by Dept of Transport and i was sent an apology.

Pretty sure fines aren't tax deductable. I don't think they care where they are getting more money. Fines are a huge part of police funding.

Isn't that an intersection where the lights go red from all directions and you can walk across the road diagonally?

has there been a few jay walkers hit by cars recently or some near misses at least? if not its nothing but revenue raising at its finest

My thoughts exactly. If no jay walkers have died or been badly injured at that crossing then it's just revenue raising.... Let's face it though, do we need to even investigate this?

It's revenue raising at its most despicable.

You want to start paying more attention to your surroundings. If they were doing an operation like that it's not too difficult to spot a bunch of cops with infringement books hanging around an intersection pulling up everyone who doesn't wait for the green man.

Clearly you're from a small country town. Melbourne CBD is chaos in the mornings - the cop came out of no-where...

but i love how you're able to spin this one back onto me.

The cops handing out fines for jaywalking - nothing to see here, it's really a test of your present moment awareness....

Such a good little storm trooper you are.

I've seen the same thing done, you can spot it a mile away. At any given moment there's a dozen or more really pissed off people getting written up. If yours was just a single cop "out of nowhere" then it wasn't a big operation.
