leppitsch tomorrow night

Should actually have played for the Hawks, but we let him walk.

Voss, Barney, Acker & the three-peat....Then his gig & sacking as Brizzy coach, before heading over to Tiger-land to help them land the cup.....He's had an interesting journey thus far.

What claim did you have to him?

Brisbane selected him as a 17-year-old with the #4 pick in the 1992 National Draft.

Both he & Aaron Lord were on our list as juniors....We cut them both sadly, when squad numbers were drastically reduced the following season.

Fair enough. Sometimes you forget that there was other pathways into the league back then.

Interesting to note that Lord and Brisbane's "other" top selection in the 1992 National Draft (Nathan Chapman, selected with the #2 Pick) both eventually played for Hawthorn.

Still have a 1991 footy record with both Leppitsch & Lords names on our extended list....They both hailed from our old recruiting zone prior to the implementation & introduction of the TAC Cup zone squads....Went by another name back in the day though.....From memory, we definitely had the option of naming them both on our list prior to the 1992 season, but went with others instead.....Bad judgement all round.

Yeah....I think Chapman might have been a part of the Brad Scott trade from memory.....We managed to score Johnny Barker in there somewhere too.

Can never understand posts like this, with a good interviewer and personable interviewee with that sort of experience there's always a great story or at least something of interest. Same goes in general in everyday life, everyone has got a story worth telling.

And I was right. Snoozefest.

Making the trifecta is the fact that Leppitsch supported Hawthorn as a kid and his idol was Dermott Brereton hence the No. 23.

Paul Kelly would be a great choice in theory.

Coming from a non-footy background to a rabble of a club (when he first arrivef), being skipper of such a young team under one of the all time great coaches (Barassi in his twilight), winning a Brownlow before captaining a Grand Final team.

Much as I hate to say it, Fevola might be worth looking at. I know he is in the media etc but behind all the schtick is a story worth looking at if he is willing to tell it...Carlton years. 99 goals, the trade to Brisbane after the Street Talk Brownlow fiasco, the gambling etc

I think we heard it all. Rather hear from him again in another 5 to 10 years to fully see how his life pans out with his wife and finances after such a rocky road, not too long ago. Still too soon for mine. Many players still playing he knows and will not share everything he might when careers are over. The guys that been retired over a decade always seem far more interesting as they willing to be far more "open" with what they share.

Fevola did an extended interview on 'The Howie Games' podcast a couple of years ago which covered his struggles and was pretty interesting to listen to; wouldn't think Sheahan would add anything to what was covered there.

Was this on last night? I'm presuming it was but it failed to make the top 20 most watched Pay-TV shows (min 35K) which it almost always did comfortably in previous years.

Clearly the public has lost interest in a format that's gone stale and went a year too long (and judging by the lack of discussion of the first couple of shows, this forum has lost interest in the show).

The format hasn't gone stale, there's still plenty of subject matter. Perhaps it's the interviewer getting lazy. People don't want to see constantly just retired players, they want to hear from players 15 years and more ago. You have WAFL, SANFL VFL, maybe even Tassie & VFA people you can involve.

If they piss off Mike who do they replace him with?

I sure as hell couldn't sit through Gerard or Robbo conducting an interview. I dont watch 360, however seen about 5 mins last night when they were speaking to the coach and player from the Bulldogs AFLW team and his line of questioning was so ridiculously stupid and uninformative.

I've already suggested Dennis Cometti. What would you say to that?

I would like to see Denis interviewed first if he hasnt already.
He would have 10 hours worth of stories and tidbits.

One of the better questions to ask Commetti about is Dave Granger. Really hot for him at the time in the late 70s early 80s
