Prediction Operation Make The 'Eight' in 2017

Clearly making the finals has to be our primary goal next season, but a few things need to go our way. I'm expecting Rich, Beams, Robinson, Zorko, Martin, Mayes (tipping breakout year) Walker, Sache, Mathieson, Paparone (tipping breakout year) Close, Gardiner and Andrews to have big years under a new coach. We need a favourable draw and a bit of luck with injuries, but I think we have every reason to be optimistic. Who do others see as players who are going to help lift us into the finals for the first time since 2009? Who and what is going help us Make the Eight in 2017?

I think you are aiming A Bit High there philcara16. Looks like you've been spending time with Billy Puller. I think we need to keep it real and aim to make the top eight as a starting point.

List reminds me of Fitzroy in 1992 and 1993, but with a few bigger bodies and some more promising forwards. I'm taking out a Victorian Family Membership next year and I am going to take the kids to every game in Melbourne because I really get the sense that we are finally on the right track for the first time in years.

Why not finals! I like your optimism. Always thought (and this is a truly Fitzroy mentality) if you win as many as you lose then its been a good year and that's close to making the finals. In reality.....well......at least it should be better than this year.

Sometimes clubs can really blossom under the first year of a new coach, lets hope we get a good run with injuries for once.

Either way I'd certainly like to be making the six (in the NEAFL). Need to get the injuries sorted out to do that and that will be good for the seniors too.

Nah, I actually think we are going places.

Very early gut feel that we will see marked improvement in output from our 2-4 year players. Wouldn't dare say it'll push us into the 8, but you never know.

Can't wait to get down to PST so I can frame a prediction based on something more tangible - such as the vibe.

Yeah I am no way thinking finals @3kz but I am so optimistic about become better. Better in play, better in structures, better in teamwork, better in coaching, players becoming better. I am also looking forward to what he does with certain players, who moves into new roles, who thrives and who is left behind. I am also excited to see which under 21 kid breaks out and says look at me. It's been a long time since I have felt that.

Love the optimism but at best I think we should be aiming for a St Kilda-type year. Inconsistent but we play some exciting footy along the way, thrown in with a few upsets.

I think our list is good enough to make the 8 if every player has a career best year or plays to their potential and we have a clear run with injuries. Having said that I think in reality we lack the depth to actually get out of the bottom half of the table. 8 Wins and a percentage above 80 will do fine for me next year, but if this is the thread that breaks the 'operation' hoodoo, I will gladly buy 3kz 2.2 standard drinks of whatever is his poison.
