Matt Priddis is a young upcoming star of the future. In cousins absence, he tore several games apart.. Like Cousins would himself.
He averaged 25 disposals from rounds 2 to 15, but against sydney he really struggled since Cousins was the dominant player which would usually be Priddis' job. It will only take time untill Priddis is dropped from the eagles starting 22 and placed as an emergencey, ready to come back in for an injury. He has huge talent and I think he is the perfect player we should look into as he struggles when west coast have a full midfield. With chad Fletcher on stand by ready to return and Cousins firing, there is almost no way Priddis can showcase his raw talent.
I would love to see him in a blues jumper because i know that not only is he an allready made player, but he fits our youth policy perfectly at only 22 years of age which is the central theme when it comes to recruiting players from opposition clubs. I really hope that if he ends up being dropped from the eagles lineup for the majority of the remaining season that we make a heavy play for him at the end of the year even if it invloves giving away a player such as fevola because i allready know this guy will be an absoulte gem.
Some of his best games in 07.
V Kangaroos: 39 disposals 10 tackles 6 marks 1 goal 1.
V Essendon: 29 disposals 5 marks 5 tackles 3 free for 1 goal
V Hawthorn 31 disposals 5 marks 6 tackles
V Brisbane 32 disposals
V Collingwood 21 disposals 5 marks 10 tackles
V Bulldogs 26 disposals 4 marks 3 goals
V Adelaide 28 disposals 5 marks 6 tackles

He has established himself as a quality midfielder in Cousins' absense, West Coast will value him very highly esp with Benny getting on and no cetainty to stay on the straight and narrow.

Don't just throw up any old name unless you have some quality rationale. He is actually very likely to be the sort of player who'd be hard to get (for the above reasons), I'd have thought.

He has said in the past he will take less money to stay at the Eagles.
He doesn't want to leave WA.

It would probably be better for his career if he did leave, but i hope he doesn't go anywhere, a great sign when a young gun like Priddis struggles to be part of your midfield rotation.

Very easy for a young player to play well in a top team.

Just out of interest, what sort of value are you guys thinking he would hold?

Also to the poster saying it's easy for a young player to look good in a great side, there may be some merit to that but Priddis is 22, very experienced and rather dominant at senior WAFL level and plays in the guts winning a lot of the footy, rather than floating around on the flanks picking up cheap kicks which would be more in line with your classification.

He's a natural ball magnet, that's beyond doubt, I think I read somewhere he has the highest possessions per minute ratio in the league? A meaningless stat I know but he does tend to make the most of his chances when out there. That aside, our form hasn't been great in a few months (3 out of 9 as I'm often reminded!) and Priddis has continued to play well anyway.

THAT SAID, he has his short comings and while I think he's got the potential to be career AFL player (ie 150 gamer) I'm still not sure whether it'll be as a quality midfield solider (ala Michael Braun) or a blue collar gun (ala Brett Kirk). He's no champion but could be an excellent player as he matures.

I think he'd be good for you guys as he'd definitely find the pill and uses it well, l but while he barely got on the park against the Swans with Benny back I'd think the club would be reluctant to part with him unless something pretty decent was in the offing.

What a ridiculous thread.

Priddis is a good solid midfielder. That's about it.

Doesn't use the football especially well, has a reasonable engine but not great. There's a reason he was running around in the WAFL for so long.

Good footballer, but he would never be worth making a dinkum play for.

Just because he plays for West Coast doesn't make him a gun. Selwood, Rosa and Hurn are all far superior.

Priddis gets free reign in WC midfield. Others teams put all their time into Judd and Kerr, easy for blokes like Priddis to freewheel on their own. A handful of our young players would be doing the same in their side.

Hes wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy too similar to what you already have. Reminds me of Carazzo too much and similar to Murphy in a way too. He would never leave Eagles unless he was asked too anyway. You need more pace in that centre square.

it would be a waste of whatever you gave west coast the only reason he gets so much of the ball is becuase the oppisition taggers are worried about kerr, judd and cousins

where as if he played for carlton he would be tagged every week

Laughable really that theory. Rosa wouldnt get so much ball if it wasnt for Kerr Judd Cousins. Priddis would. Priddis is a clearance machine. He doesnt receive it from Kerr and co nor does he get any help from them. Hes nigh on impossible to tag too. Not sure how him getting tagged would prevent his clearance/tackling which is the best thing about his game.

But as I said. Hes too similar to Carazzo

Sound likes Andrew Carrazzo's stats. If we use your logic Carrots is heading to superstar status (not that I would complain).

To give away Fevola for him. Trade your gun FF for a better than average midfielder. Surely you jest. Anyway, Fev's manager was on SEN this in the studio. He said he's got his mind and track (again) and WON'T be traded. So let's forget about that. He'll be playing for us next year and thank goodness for that.
