Face it, JD was the original but he has well and truly been left behind by a hoarde of young blood.

It kinda reminds me of Boogie Nights when Dirk Diggler lost his crown to up and coming bucks such as Johnny Doe. You're not gonna break out into a rendition of "Feel My Heat" or "You Got the Power" now are you JD?

Bazza, I have to admit I do not know what all the fuss about JD is about.

There is a lot of anti-Carlton activity on Bay 13 at the moment and for whatever reason, your tribe automatically blames JD for the phenomenon.

He does not seem to post much on bay 13, and when he does, it doesn't particularly resonate.

JD has always preferred to ply his trade in front of the bright lights of the AFL board, rather than the back alleys of Bay 13. Maybe you do not travel in the same circles?

Biff, are the Bay 13 natives getting upset that JD is credited so much when they are trying to get noticed?

If there is one thing you can say for JD, it is that he has got himself noticed whether he wanted to or not, or whether he intends to be taken negatively or not. He has built himself a profile the envy of most of Bay 13 without really wanting to, while those that want to be noticed work tirelessly to try and keep up, to no avail.

Just as many whinging about Carlton supporters being upbeat about their prospects, and about Carlton supporters not playing the Bay 13 game by and large, and about the fact that we are bagging the Bay in general.

There has been a certain hypocrisy about all this, that's for sure.

Sure, I could be accused of baiting here .... a moderator trolling and all that, but then I don't subscribe to the theory that you can troll a troll, especially when doing so in self defence. Prospective moderators instigating trolls however ..... now that might fall into a different category.

Nah, its funny in the moment. If people happen to appreciate your humour then that is great. But you do touch on a good point, there is nothing like a common enemy to unite people.

Speaking personally here, I'm quite used to some carlton supporters being overly optimistic as a way of trolling. Though others aren't so happy about it, including carlton supporters.

Wouldn't a good point be one that hasn't already been done? I guess that is the problem though, 95% of the Bay is repetitive stuff which causes the original stuff to get lost. Would I be correct in assuming that? Then the not so brilliant trolls enter into the rubbish thread, proclaiming them the best laugh they have had since the day before when someone posted the same thing, and it diminishes the cred of the whole place.

I'm not thrilled about it either. Some do it to troll as you said, and some do it to fight back against trolls. Patience is a virtue and there is no better comeback than an actual resurgence, not a potential one IMO.

That is probably the case with all boards. Unfortunately, we all get tarred with the same brush when the most extreme among us cause annoyance. There is a perception that all Carlton supporters are arrogant/deluded/stupid based on the opinions of the minority, and that perception is played out on Bay 13. Much like Bay 13ers don't appreciate this thread and this board in general, dismissing them all as juvenile bogans. I understand the hypocrisy in this thread, but then I am trying to draw attention to the hypocrisy on the bay, but for some reason, they seem to think it is their right to perpetuate the stereotypes, while thinking we are deluded for doing exactly the same thing. Nobody so naive as a hypocrite that has no idea he is being hypocritical.

Yes but are they faring well, or are they laughing at themselves or just not rising to the bait? A Carlton supporter rising to the bait over there is a godsend for the natives. If a Carlton supporter threw out the bait though, he is generally unsuccessful as the backslapping doesn't occur both ways. The others join forces to tear down the Carlton supporter in that case, even if their troll was no worse than a similar one that won acclaim.

Seems a troll board should appreciate a troll based on its merits and not its club allegiance .... no? All trolls are equal but some are more equal than others.

There are no successful Carlton trolls on Bay 13, because they are not allowed to be successful by virtue of the club they support, and our current standing amongst the other clubs.

Threads are not graded according to any particular standards, they are graded by which group in the schoolyard has the loudest voice. I know the intention of the board is different to that, but the general theme was never going to lend itself to anything but what has taken it over.

Again, you might see that as whinging, but seeing as though I rarely go there and rarely rise to the bait, I can quite confidently say, my opinions are nothing more than observations, as a person might observe a group of strangers interracting in a park, with a mild interest. But they are just that .... opinions.

I agree with you for the most part, but I do think there are successful carlton trolls over there, though as you say the dice are loaded against them, but many carlton posters are using this to their favour, agreeing with posters, and playing up the visy, pratt, criminal thing thereby turning the troll on its head.

It is all cyclical, almost every team has its moment to be burnt on bay 13 (except brisbane), and if a team is doing well it will usually shuts a lot of the knockers up.

Towards the end of the year carlton had a good run and there weren't many trolls against them. The offseason, on the back of the warnock trade with the suggestion of salary cap breaches, many carlton centred trade rumours plus the optimistic carlton predictions saw carlton become the whipping boy of bay 13.

It will probably change when the season starts, as the real season has a way of disturbing inter-club troll alliances. Plus people will become bored of trolling carlton.
