Optimum contract length

I was going to post this question in the Miles thread but It’s worth a general discussion.

I don’t mind him signing for two. Personally I feel contentment occurs in a lot of coaches and players signing 5 year plus, with anomalies performing for extended contracts.

Who would stick to less than 3 year or less contracts?

I think it's largely irrelevant from the club's perspective. Players leave mid contract all the time these days. Contract length is more about securing the player's future than the player's future at that club. Ultimately you just have to offer the length of contract that is required to get the player to stay in that moment.

I dont mind the 2 yr deal at all. We shouldn't but if we over valued our list and need to do a quick rebuild we dont have our hands tied to much.
