Did we not learn anything from Ben McKay's and Josh Battle's free agency? Brissie could pay Oscar in belly button lint and we'd still get band 1 compo.
What we learned was they went to a club with huge cap space , Brisbane premiership team ? with a list full of talent
I also learned alot from Brad Crouch deal

So you didn't learn. Sad!

He’ll get band 1, zero doubt
100%. I've been saying for a while now, even if Brisbane's offer doesn't trigger band 1, the AFL will give it to you anyway to stave off the calls for a priority pick. It's a pleasure rorting the competition with you.

I honestly can’t see how any team would be giving him band 1 money.. maybe a year or two ago but he looks totally washed out there when he has got on the park, and then when you look at his career numbers he’s just not that special.. I really, really hope the Hawks stay well clear of this bloke. Has disaster written all over it

This guy is so overrated.
In 8 seasons, her has only kicked 30 goals once.

Eagles should be doing their best to move him on.

No doubt the AFL secret formula will deliver pick 2 to the Eagles.
Fair enough, given he is a captain.

And a club with pay him $900k pa because he is a free agent.

Well Hawks hvent stayed well clear.

They have done the exact opposite.

Except you already offered him that....
Until a deal is signed it can still be pulled away. To us fans he looks cooked- although it’s still possible he/ WC are going through the motions to protect their ‘investment’. Incredibly risky if not and he’s just got a bad knee. Give it a miss Hawks.

Cringe thing is the injury is just bone bruising to his good knee :D but in saying that the conversation of

"We are pulling your contract offer"
"What why"
"You had a bruised right knee"

Not going to happen

failing medical can still knock a deal over - there are no guarantees

His knee issue is known about by everyone, including your club. Contract offer is made with this a known fact.

We all know if he does his knee tomorrow, you withdraw your contract offer. You are not withdrawing it cos he has 1 week off...

For someone who's demanding a long term high dollar contract - who also has known injury history - he needs to demonstrate he can overcome that issue and perform at a high level. Consistently being on field playing AFL for starters is vital, performing comes next.

Every week he misses there'll be questions on the other side whether he's the right choice for all that money.

Do you think there's been enough questions raised this season with his form and fitness that clubs will be holding off on any contract offers at this stage? I think it stands to reason that they'd be waiting to see how the rest of the season plays out. I think it is possible that if Oscar's season continues as it's started that there are no suitors for him at the end of the season.

Exactly. Some Eagles supporters are talking here as if this is some schoolyard deal where as long as they say "no backsies", the other club has to accept and live with it forever. Far from it.

I think the contracts been agreed too already is all. The question on whether Brisbane will pull out of a deal thats already occured between player and agent is the question

I just dont see it happening unless a severe injury was to occur that killed his 2026 season in its tracks.

There's a few on our board (me included) who are against recruiting Oscar.
Aside from there only being one big O, unless our medicos reckon, they can get this guy on the park, he shouldn't come up here.

We do have some options. Mitch Lewis is a name that keeps coming up and Gallop or Lloyd are the developing key forwards in the reserves. A lot of posters are high on Gallop and thought he should've played yesterday. Couldn't be worse of a forward presence then our resting ruck was.

Until Oscar signs the dotted line, there is no deal. As mentioned above, only if our medicos think they can get him back on the park will he come here, and I don't think he is up to it anymore.

He could become a McCarthy, and we get another 5-6 years out of him before he breaks down again, but I don't think that's likely.

This part is already done. Why people think youd make a contract offer without 100% understanding of all medical issues with him is beyond me.
