Fly has already won my heart. I know the real test comes when we are riddled with injuries (when aren't we?) and have lost a few but his attitude and demeamour is so bloody inspiring. Even the journos love him. When a man at the helm at my beloved Collingwood keeps telling everyone how honoured he feels to be coach of the club and how he will cherish every moment...well it's just so refreshing.

To see him so happy and not putting on the coaching mask and pretending it's just another four points before moving on to the next game was also stirring. I can see why you'd want to run through brick walls for this bloke. He embraces our history and honours the jumper in a way that makes me feel we are in very good hands.

A sample size of one game, and against such a poor opposition, is not enough for me to make up my mind…really has done a lot right so far. I can pay that.

Still not convinced the game plan suits our skill error prone list and lack of quality key forwards. The decrease in pressure efforts certainly suits our injury profile however.

Just imagine if McFly lead us to a GF and a win in a couple of years time , Louie Richards like in 1984 Sheedy Baby Bombers “This Premiership is Sheedys Premiership”

Louie would say “ohhhh hohoho This Premiership is McFlys Premiership , with the tremendous moves he’s made Bob , McFly and the baby maggot’s”

Fly focuses on what we did right, not want went wrong.
Similarly, this thread is no place for discussing our previous coach.
Forward looking please.
PS: I love that he’s cherishing the role.

One of the points made in the OP, with which I agree, is the respect shown by McRae for our club, as an historical entity. It’s almost reverence! And it’s come through a lot in his comments since he landed the coaching gig.

Not sure how well any of this will translate to coaching success, but I like that he is thoughtful and considered when talking about us, as a club.

It suits us better than a game relying on us maintaining possession.

How good is it to have a coach that:

  • is actually a solid coach with years of experience and we aren’t gonna wait 5 years saying “can this guy coach”?
  • how awesome is it to have a gameplan that wants to win and be high scoring
  • how good is it to watch pressers and then Coach doesn’t speak in BS

I love Collingwood - always have - and Love Fly!! Keep it up
