To continue along the line of "toasts", I thought I'd just suggest a toast for the whole coaching staff.
From Mick Malthouse, to Mark Neeld, to the great Nathan Buckley, through to Scott Watters, and our 1990 hero and VFL coach Gavin Brown, they all must get some credit for what we have just achieved.
It's no coincidence we that we spend more money on the football department then any other club, and yesterday it paid dividends in the biggest way.
To Gavin Brown, I say thankyou for your tireless work in developing so many of the premiership players who played yesterday, and we look forward to your next "batch" of youngsters.
To Nathan Buckley, we all know the forward pressure increase has a lot to do with you, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
To Mark Neeld, who may be the most talented assistant coach in the AFL, we simply say thankyou, and thank god the other clubs are dumb enough to pass you up for a senior job.
To Scott Watters, who left a "cushy" job in the WAFL to test his abilities in the AFL, the backline thanks you.
To the rest, Rocca, Hudghton, Beveridge and the other training and development staff;
THANK YOU.
And just one more, to our fitness and conditioning "chief" in David Buttifant, who turned a bruised and battered drawn Grand Final side into a force through sensational hard work and talent, we thank you.
GO PIES, WORLD CHAMPIONS.
