Just after the final siren I watched as the cheer squads dumped our B&W shakers one-by-one onto the pitch. This is in an already half-empty aisle, many of whom had obviously left by midway through Q3.

FFS, learn to conduct yourselves with grace and dignity in defeat and support your damn team by taking a loss on the chin.

Side-by-side fellas and ladies, not single file.

I like the cheersquad, provides comedy relief.

Come on, we all support our club through and through, but sometimes the love for the club is so intense that losing is unbareable!

Certainly for me that's the case.

Let them be frustrated for once.

Uh-uh. You hear the bile and venom poured upon the players after a loss like this, but somehow these same supporters aren't accountable for their behaviour whilst being representatives of the club?!? I don't buy that.

I'll back the cheersquad here, we were sitting on the Collingwood wing and it was empty half way through the last, as at least the cheersquad actually hung around.

I dont blame people for leaving, but I wanted to see some of our young players.

And as for dumping the B and W shakers onto the ground;

1. They are there during the warmup
2. Each cheersquad does that after every match so they can carry them down the race to a truck/van.

The cheersquad is the least of our worries, at least they turn up every week like our bloody diehards (and me). It hurts to lose so bad, but myself, the cheersquad and about 20K other Collingwood supporters will be there next week, and and from then on, no matter what.

I was at the game watching them after the siren.

Pies on my face...

Didn't think you blokes would be back this early, I thought the game was only delayed 30 minutes?

My bad, apologies mate, bit testy with all the idiots flooding onto the boards atm.

Geez, you didn't think I'd be hanging around after that performance? :D

I've also got the angry-mans because I had a Collingwood 'supporter' in front of me call Harry O'Brien an 'Apeman' because he slightly fumbled the ball. I can stand many things at the footy but that racist slur was an absolute disgrace and put me in a foul mood even before the second quarter started.

HAHA, gave me a laugh at least. The game (in Melbourne) was delayed about an hour by the time the ball was bounced on TV.(according to my Mum who stayed home) Good old channel 7, hope their ratings hit rock bottom after 1/2 time. (about 10pm on a work/school night)

Don't forget they had to agree too certain conditions in order to be in or remain in the Cheersquad, one of those conditions is staying till the end. They signed a contract to support!

The way the boys are travelling out on the ground, the cheersquad is the least of our problems atm.

At least we know the Cheersquard SHOW UP each and every week!

Pardon me, but perhaps it is you that is being racist.

On topic - the Carlton cheersquad lack passion of late - at least the 'Woods have a big enough emotional investment to feel disgust?!?

Erm, dare I ask, how am I being racist?!?

On the second point, fair call. But still, really...

I didn't think to make the connection that calling a player ape-like for fumbling was racist - that is until you suggested it. Upon your suggestion I made the link.

However you were there, I'm sure you know the man and/or what he meant by his words.

**** me who cares. If you get outraged by things like that , stay indoors and listen to Neil Mitchell.

LOL, I'm just outraged that Neil Mitchell rates so well :D

But as to our cheer squad... well, today it seems to matter jack s**t. But at the time it just seemed like a poor demonstration of the term 'supporter'. Our team suffered, so our elected cheer squad could at least have stayed and showed some moral fibre...

Anyhoo... onto tomorrow's headline... "Toovey re-signs until 2015"...

Yeah, right d1ckhead, no-one has ever heard the odious RACIST comparisons between black people and apes. give me a spell.

I'm outraged by it, those people are poinsonous dipsh1ts who deserve a smack in the temple.

Are there only two responses to that kind of crap - listen to Neil Mitchell (whatever that's meant to mean) or shut up? Odd.

It is obvious that calling a black person an ape is racist, how hard can that be to figure out.

It is racist much like, Indian cricket fans at games making monkey sounds towards Andrew Symonds, and Russian soocer fans at games do the same towards opposition black players.

Ever heard of Andrew Symonds?
So what do you think he was upset about with Indian Cricket team a couple of seasons back?

Disingenuous, BlueToiletRoll - unworthy of you; and your target was ill chosen.

Just a question
Where will the Collingwood cheersquad be in your match against us in Round 12?

Same spot, doesnt move for any MCG games, so Ponsford Stand, behind the goals, so wouldnt matter if it was a home or away game. (It's a home game I think for us).

We had a very good view of the cheer squad on Sunday, and I thought it very lacklustre. One radio commentator observed that they'd never seen it so empty. I don't know about that, but they didn't seem to do much, and didn't make much noise - even when we scored.
