Didn't see the game but looks like Hawkins and Mooney had great games?? Great to see?

I thought that Hawkins was pretty good. he could have kicked six. Missed a sitter, kicked one into the man on the mark, and a kick along the ground just missed. His forward pressure was great. His tackles stuck. And the big mark at the southern end was fantastic to see.

yeah agree big tomahawk was quiet good today, crashed the packs nicely and his tackles were great he could of get a free kick or 2 from his tackles.and that mark was great he needs to stay in the team he will get better

Agreed, both Mooney and Hawkins played really well, plently of marks inside 50 for both of them and both had an enormous presence up forward.

Really pleasing was the work Hawkins did off the ball, had about 10 tackles and they all really stuck. He monstered Merrett a few times who by no means is a small bloke. Also took a couple of nice strong marks which was also pleasing to see. Going by this effort should be in the team for an extended stay as he had plenty of presence in the forward 50, which I believe he needs to contribute moreso than sheer goals.

Mooney looked like he was enjoying himself out there, read the ball really well in difficult conditions for big men. We were really confident kicking long to a contest with both of them and more times then not came out on top in the contest.

Best game Mooney has played in a long, long time. Was super impressed with his efforts, probably best on the ground.

But Tommahawk was just sensational today - goals, tackles, second efforts and set-ups. Just what we ask of the big fella and he delivered it all at once. Obviously would have been nice to nail those two gimmes, but cant fault the effort today. Tackling was magnificent, it seems like he is starting to realise just how big he is.

Mooney great. Hawkins best yet. But don't forget the small forwards- Stokes busy, Varcoe could have kicked 4 and Byrnes slotted 2 set shots and did plenty especially when the game was still (sort of) in the balance in the first half. To win a flag we have to improve today we saw a bit - in the forward half.

Was really impressed with the work rate of the Cats forwards today. They were switched-on from the first bounce. Tomma's game was his best so far, mostly because of the way he presented and tackled. Mooney was on-song for the whole game- I love it when he struts around with the type of confidence he showed today, even if he doesn't kick a huge bag of goals.
GO CATTERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsu:

The forward line at times made it look like they got up, looked at the conditions and decided it was perfect to show what they could do, especially in terms of defensive pressure and quality marking.

Kicking for goal all round could be a tad straighter, but having said that we sunk a couple that we had no right to as well, and a lot of the inaccuracy was in the last quarter when they basically unleashed the dogs. Seriously though, when you win by 93 points, this is nitpicking.

Best game Mooney's played for a while. Maybe since that game against Nth last year @ Docklands? From memory he booted 7.

l thought moons was good last qt last week he's leading thou CHF was good getting back to his best now...go moons

I love seeing someone like Mooney kick some arse. You just know that it's annoying the shit out of all the people that bag him.

If Hawkins can do that every week we will be a true force.

Did Varcoe do enough given his stats count and one goal?
Would Vegas be a chance next week, or would he upset the Tommahawk game, playing in the FP?

Varcoe was better than his stats would suggest I think, did some good stuff early on. That's how I saw it anyway.

Hard to see any changes when you win by 15 goals. If there was to be a change, you'd think Lonners would come back in for the backline.

Some possibility the skipper will be back next week too apparently (but more likely the weekk after).

Nice to see the Camster finally crank it up. Was thinking of asking him a cheeky question along those lines on the Cat website GTV: Ask Moons a question, but as long as he turns it on every few games, then when it REALLY counts, that will do me fine.

I think Moons is just starting to get some Match fitness up now as he has been steadily improving over the last few weeks. He had a great game today.

I agree Hawkins looked like a forward today. Good marks, tackles and second efforts. Kicking at goal let him down though. But when you consider today was only his 23rd AFL game, one would have to say he is coming along nicely now. Keep it up Tom.

Not sure if wet weather suits Travis but he did a few good things and his position is safe for next week. Good to see Stokes put in a good performance today as well.

Surprised to see Hawkins had 9 tackles, and Mooney had 8 score assists. Absolutely smashed the Brisbane defence and seemed to have a picnic doing it. Was probably the most dangerous I've seen our forward line in years. :thumbsu:

Thought Byrnes was sensational in the first half too, whether it was being a leading target or a crumbing forward. Seemed to be everywhere in the 2nd term.

Did anyone listen to Bomber on K-Rock after the game? He said something along the lines of approaching this game with a more defensive mindset - great to see Hawkins follow through on that with his pressure. Byrnes also had one of his best games for the club.

And a 93 point win focusing on defence is pretty handy IMO. :p

Also said he was a Shannon Byrnes fan :D

Gee I kept hearing how Merret was a gun defender AA blah blah, glad we smashed him and his equally average buddies.

I hope our key forwards are not going to be wet weather specialists, that shit don't work in the dome! :)

seriously if we have hawkins and mooney in form all year from this point there is no stopping us. I mean we won a flag with a so called average forward line almost did last year also... what is going to happen if we click up forward??

loved seeing hawkins tackle and smash packs today this is what he has been missing over the past year or so.

Hawkins, Mooney and Ablett were awesome:thumbsu::)

Add Byrnes to that list. Anyone who bags him on yesterday's game are extremely hard to please.

Byrnes, yes, one little tough nut who's determined to succeed.
He's going to be the cats Steve Milne.
Will relish opportunities under Tommahawk Mooney and Ottens.;)
