.........or we release the Meese... :D
How long before that becomes a battle cry?

Release the Meese and backmen will rest in peace ( sorry my WWE bias there)

1. Is he good enough?

2. Can we afford to introduce him?

3.Will we expect too much from him?

Not being as close to the action as some I cant make judgement , so I would appreciate some closer analysis.

Robert Walls had some interesting comments on "Mrs. Tredrea and Cornsey" last night about Pav at CHF against Richmond on the weekend...........doesn't work hard enough apparently....

What'd he say harry, what'd he say?

I think he will be good enough - still some time away IMO......as usual - we WILL expect too much.....but he has steadily improved his contribution at Norward over the last few weeks. He is definately a ruckman before a KPP, but in the context of this thread, he could be another option resting in the pocket if we continue to struggle for consistancy.

I put Meese in the same catagory as The Count......I reckon they will learn a lot more around the side than they will in the SANFL....but it's difficult to justify bringing them in to a successful combination (reason why VB gets only a few minutes a qtr).

Meese is definately in the Rehn mold from the point of view that he is a good mark - and reads the play in the backline very well. I would like to see "The Meese and Rock Ruck Show" as from R1 2006.....but thats just me.... :o

Wallsy was on the agro pills last night but he basically said that for a man of Pav's size.....190cm/90kg......he is a formidable onballer......but is not in the same galaxy as REEEvolt/The Gimp/ Brown etc in the CHF stakes.

He described his game against the Tiges qtr by qtr - and apparently had 2 possies early in the first....one late in the first....then didn't touch the ball again until late in the 3rd. He said his double leads were non-existant, didn't stretch for anything that was remotely off-line in terms of passes from team-mates, and did not work hard enough to create space for other forwards.
He said he had a lazy game and had a lot of work to do for a man with his talent.

I didn't see the game - so I can't offer an opinion - but an interesting observation from Wallsy

I would have played the Meese in the Collingwood game (I may have even mentioned it on this board :)).

I would like him to get a game before Matt Clarke.

I wouldn't be changing a winning side, but when the injuries inevitably come, I hope they replace them with youth over Clarke, Stevens etc. Neil Craig's comments after the match about the continual need to blood new players was very encouraging in this regard.

He wrote as much in his article today. I have posted it on the Pavlich thread. It's not very complimentry to Freo & Pav & CC in particular.

Yeh. I had a look at the Freo board yesterday, just to see how they were handling losing to the tigers & they are beside themselves. They seem to think they have got a promoter not a coach & are very ********ed off at his re-appointment for another 3 years.

He has a pretty good list & should be delivering now.

Wishful thinking.

I am sick of the crows trying to trade/recruit a mature forward line fix. Let me see who comes to mind. Adam Richardson, Daniel Schell, Ryan Fitzgerald, Wayne Carey. I am sure there are others feel free to remind me. All of these blokes were meant to be the answer but none proved to be anything but a band aid solution.

We need to develop key forwards ourselves. Through out a lot of these players coming and going one bloke has shone and that is Perrie. He may not be classy but he is hard working and his body seems to hold together well. stevens has also provided good service but unfortunately his body has let him down.

Late last year I was thinking Ottens could be our answer but I now believe we need to develop these players. From Watts, Hentschel, Gibson, Hinge, Meeson, Maric we need to start one of these blokes now developing into a star forward recruit.

Yep, that's the way I see it.

BTW Hinge is too small to be a kpp, but he will be a very good player IMHO.

With any side whether it be Fremantle or Adelaide ...you expect to see progression..whether its te journey of a 6 year plan like CCs or its the crash bang put kids in style of Wallace and Eade..if there is no progress then its time to move on...I think this is where Fremantle and Connolly are at.

CC will see out 2005..whether he is there next year depends on where he finishes this year

We have one Stiffy.

They just won't play him there.

Brett Burton.
He is not really a key forward and certainly not a gun crumber. A key forward is someone who can play there week in week out and is a big unit. Someone like Fevola :D. Gun crumber is someone like Davey :D. Burton is someone who can take a catch and confused opposition and team mates with his unpredicatabilty ;)

Perrie is doing a fine job at the moment. The midfield is also contributing so it is all good for now.
