Outrage over Chapman's comments

I'll start this by clarifying my position. Im an outraged Melbourne supporter...........

Whilst I have no problems with you beating us on Friday night, you were in front when the siren goes which makes you the better side on the night, I do have a problem with that poor excuse for an AFL player Paul Chapman coming out and bagging Melbourne in an interview on channel 10 last night.

Chapman was discussing the mighty cats plight for the current season and said something along the lines of 'Melbourne thinks theyre going 2 make the 8 this year & I can tell u we are a much better side than them this year so we would expect to make the 8 as well!'

The line of questioning had nothing to do with the MFC and for the life of me I cant understand y that moron would bag us. You won by 1 point in a game that could have gone either way.

I suppose it's attitudes like this which have led to the club not hag any success since who knows when. Any club which cant win a premiership with Ablett & Hocking in the same team has serious problems. For Geelong to improve this arrogance and cockiness has to dissapear. Look after your own backyard first!!!!!

Whilst we havent had success either, you wont find us bagging other clubs.

Paul Chapman & GFC u should be ashamed of yourself!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Suppose he has a valid point, Chapman shouldn't have said that. I didn't see the interview but i doubt his objective was to outrage Melbourne supporters.

Can I just say, I think the Melbourne supporter who started the thread took Chapman's comments out of context, and twisted them to suit his bitter slur at losing on Friday night.

Chapman was talking about gaining respect, and saying that this does not happen in February/March. As a yardstick, Melbourne are also after respect, and expect to make the 8. He went on to say that given we beat Melbourne, it would be reasonable to expect we should make the 8 as well.

But don't let that get in the way of a good attempt at a troll.

Geez, take a chill pill mate. Sure it may have sounded abit strange for Chapman to say what he did, but it's abit harsh labelling him a mron and a poor excuse for an AFL footballer. He is a darn sight better than alot of players down at the Junction Oval.
How do you know what the 'line of questioning' was, were you down at Catland yesterday? And what's this crap about winning a flag with Hocking and Ablett, surely you can't be serious. I guess if these 2 players were slotted into the 2004 MFC line-up we would be looking at the Dees first flag since..........(sorry wouldn't have a clue when it was, before I was born I'm pretty sure)???
You're right though, you won't find the Dees bagging any other clubs. The coach is too busy performing a stand-up routine at the after match press conference when his team has just been taught a 10 goal lesson.

Chapman is an individual like anyone and like anyone, is entitled to express his opinion.

Should he have said it? IMO, no. Not because it is disrespectful, but becuase it gives Daniher ammunition to use. He can take this comment and use it to rev up his players, especially when they play Geelong next.

Bomber should be livid that Chapman spoke as he did, but Daniher will be laughing.
