How bizarre. Surprised it isn't funded with public money.

Reading up on it they haven't had a stadium for the entirety of their existence, so maybe this was the only way to get one approved.

Perhaps Liverpool should have asked the question.

We're not in the business of signing players that we have 0% intention of ever playing at the club. So don't know why you brought Liverpool into this discussion.

Because you were whining about how difficult it was to do a deal. I guess you're right, if no-one else wants to buy a player it probably isn't that difficult to get a deal done.

The article wasn't directed at City really as they are well setup and have the financial backing to handle any problems.

Realistically you need sovereign wealth fund backing to create another CFG. CFG are run by the Abu Dhabi royal family and have the sovereign wealth fund at their disposal so hoovering up clubs is chump change for them.

Not great when new groups come along who are leveraging to buy up big.

Plenty of clubs were after Mooy.

Tony Bloom bought USG in Belgium when they were in the second division and now they are in the quarter finals of Europa and 2nd in Belgian league.

They have reached Europe before we did.

And you farm players out to them for their development with the ultimate aim of bringing them through the Brighton team. As above, there's nothing inherently wrong about that as the rules currently stand, but to pretend that these other clubs aren't bought with the ultimate aim of improving the wellbeing and running of the top club in the group is a little facetious. A rising tide, etc. so there will be benefits to these other clubs, but I'd be curious about how fans of those clubs feel. Maybe doing well in their league and Europe means they don't care. Maybe they'd prefer still being in the second division but completely autonomous. Who knows.

The ultimate aim of any loan is to develop players to the maximum level, ideally to come back to play for the parent club.

The benefit of loaning within the group are that all teams within the group play a similar style of football, they have the same coaching and football methodology. The "junior" club get good quality players they might not otherwise be able to attract.

And if the player isn't ready or good enough they've gained some good experience, which could help earning a permanent move away.

It's a mutually beneficial thing. But not a lot different to our two biggest loan deals this season to Sheff Utd.

Sheff Utd are in a good position to buy those two players if they continue to perform and/or Sheff Utd get promoted. The 'junior' club in a network is not going to buy those junior players if they perform well.

Why not?

Now that's a post provoking a PMSL if ever I saw one.
Is this some of that reasoned debate you were desperate for?

If Man City/player and loanee club all agreed that a move was the best place for one of our players why wouldn't we sell to them?

So why did Aaron Mooy get sold to Huddersfield, or Jack Harrison to Leeds, rather than another club in your network if you thought they were such promising players? There's a rather obvious answer staring you in the face.

“PMSL”?

Hardly farm. Be lucky to be one or two players there at a time.

So at tops two loans out of a huge amount of loans at other clubs.

It's more an option for work permit issues arise.

Bloom actually doesn't run USG, very hands off.

They are ran as a seperate entity.

Their fans absolutely love it.

Which club in our network would have been a good fit for Mooy or Harrison?

They went to clubs that a) wanted them, b) they wanted to move to and c) were willing to pay the money we thought they were worth.

That's about as obvious as you can get.

Which is why I'm suggesting that your loanees at Sheff United are a chance to sign them permanently. :)

Maybe they will, maybe they won't.

Bizarre.

Am I the only one who is just a little bit fed up with the Ryan Reynolds and Wrexham 'fairytale' ...

Bordering on annoying reality TV nonsense at this point, Man United have been slated to play them in San Diego in a pre season exhibition game too.

Going a bit overboard now.

Team with ambitious owners does well. Yeah pretty annoying.
