I feel a bit for the teams around them but then it really is just luck of the draw with ownership.

Those teams will have loved it because it's boosted crowds and interest and so is a much better situation for them than what next season will be without Wrexham in the league.

Wouldn't be so sure on that. The flip side is they've created a circus around the league that they compete in.

Can you name 5 other sides in the league outside of Wrexham? I might just be able to and I love football.

There's also the obvious jealousy etc.

You may be right but I wouldn't think it's as fantastic for them as everyone may think.

The head of the National League did an interview recently where he said exactly that. The advertising, focus, crowds are all up for the National League and most club owners would prefer Wrexham stay if they had the choice.

Notts County, Scampaignerhorpe, Southend, Altrincham, Maidstone, Oldham, Woking, Barnet off the top of my head. But it's not about how many I can name, it's about more fans in the UK taking an interest in their local club because it competes in the same league as Wrexham, gates increasing for both home followings, and Wrexham taking huge away followings to clubs.

It's about the league getting a streaming deal, more merchandise sales, etc. etc. There's huge flow ons.

EDIT: Lol Wealdstone not Maidstone, combined two clubs there, Maidenhead and Wealdstone. Wealdstone should have been easy to remember. ;) And in fact looking at the list there's a ton of recently L2 clubs I didn't even name like York, Chesterfield, Yeovil who'd be pretty well known.

I'm not talking about the head of the National League, of course he loves it. They're relevant to the general public for the first season in forever.

I'm talking about the other clubs in the leagues and their various supporters.

Lol to clarify, the head of the National League said that the owners of the clubs in the division would rather Wrexham stay.

Is there figures to back this up? Makes sense against Wrexham but I'd be surprised if that was the case for every other fixture.

As for the streaming deal, the league will become irrelevant again once Wrexham have gone. The locals will care but the international intrigue will leave with Wrexham.

A generation of fans were born after that happened.

And a lot born before that happened. A lot of teenagers in the 1990’s would know that these clubs existed and would know that Wrexham existed before these owners.

If these owners are helping the league out for all the reasons SM has stated, how is that a problem for you?

Of course, that's exactly my point. :tearsofjoy: That clubs would actually rather Wrexham still be in the league next year.

Here's a game not involving Wrexham:

I reckon many people would have heard of Oldham Athletic. Denis Irwin played over 160 games for the club.

I still remember when Oldham were in the Premier League.

Only 23 years ago, all of Coventry, Wimbledon (renamed to MK Dons a few years later), Bradford, Sheffield Wednesday and Derby were in the PL. We might never have such an obscure bunch in the same season again.

MK Dons have no ties or identity to the original Wombles..

Still very mad that the FA allowed that to happen.

Swindon Town is another obscure club that once was in the Premier League unlikely to ever return.

Derby is an historically famous and big club (of sorts), to a lesser extent The Wendies

Both should return some day to the top flight.

? It's literally the same club that got moved to MK.

Just because AFC Wimbledon supporters no longer recognise it as such, doesn't change the fact.

I thought the original Wimbledon relocated to Milton Keynes and eventually renamed themselves to MK Dons. The supporters created AFC Wimbledon.

I've heard various life long Wrexham fans on various social media platforms saying how getting a ticket for some of them has become so hard because of all the blow ins snapping them up.

Increasing the capacity once the Kop end is finished should help significantly but it could still be a big issue, you're right.

Must be like being United or Liverpool fans.

****ing turncoat! Just kidding. Denis is a legend of the club and he's always had a warm welcome back when he's paid a visit. He used to take some of our free kicks around the penalty area. I think he was the free kick taker at United until Becks took over.

With the Wrexham thing it's been good for the National League but I'll be glad if them and Notts County are promoted. We don't need their away support for a pay day and it will give us a better chance of promotion next season.

What will give you a better chance of promotion is three up three down, which should be coming in soon.

I didn't know that.

Wrexham and Notts County are both likely to finish around 20 points above 3rd place and possibly 40 points above 7th. But one of them will be going into the play offs where it can be a lottery. They both deserve to be promoted.

Think it's an inevitability at this point.
