The news I find more pleasing is our list managing crew according to Cripps were speaking to Matty Lobbe all the way through the trade process with Paddy.Shows the high level of respect at our club for everyone on our list when it comes to recruiting new players in to play similar roles.I am quite chuffed reading that, this list is as tight as a group can be, all pulling for the same result, and if a new recruit doesn't get the blessing of the group we won't get him. That is something nearly all clubs are jealous of

Terrific to have a guy who has shown great humility and integrity throughout this whole process land at the club.

He will be a great addition on and off the field.

I did wonder what this tweet from Kochie yesterday meant when I read it just after the Ryder trade.

The answer is in Rooch's Ryder drives memberships article - right at the end. Today is Saturday for Rooch's article in tomorrow's paper.

Ryder will marry his fiance Jess at Port Douglas today and join his new Power teammates at Alberton on December 1 before taking part in fitness coach Darren Burgess’ epic pre-season campaign in Dubai from December 5.

..and in that nightmarish week leading up to the Elimination Final when all their flogs were on our board in force, some of them were calling us "minnows" while having the false impression that they're a "powerhouse".

Bit rich from a club that's been living and breathing mediocrity for thirty years. Clubs like them and Essendon can have their fancy membership and crowd figures, we'll have our finals wins :thumbsu:
We'll have all three thanks :thumbsu:

I can't believe we've added Paddy Ryder to our squad.

Lol
Right?!
During the year I was convincing myself towards the idea that we'd only be able to land a guy like Griffiths, Grimley or Lowden.

Never even entertained the idea of getting Ryder.

Would be equivalent to us looking for some outside pace last year and landing... Stephen Hill :p (I'm sure there are other, better players I could have named)

We've got them though: Jared Polec, Jarman Impey and the best off all @thezone19

Can't wait to see a picture of him holding up a Port jumper and shaking Ken Hinkleys hand.
There's something else I'd sooner like to see a Port player holding up...... on October 3 next year!!! With Paddy at Alberton, it may just happen.

As much as it stung when connors lashed us in 2010 I can't help but feel it was constructive criticism.

Since that time we haven't put a foot wrong, not saying he's the reason......but sometimes some honest feedback does the world of good.

Apart from Port supporters, who the **** would have wanted to play for us back then, seriously.

So it wasn't as if he was full of shit, he was spot on.

Connors made that call in 2009 because he was trying to get Luke Ball to Collingwood.

We were having trouble getting the Burgoyne deal done. Ball was thrown into the mix as part of a multi club deal and it was said he might even end up at Alberton. Connors was pissed off his Ball trade might get dicked adound so he lashed out at Port basically saying to Port piss off get out of our way.

When he was on 5AA a couple of weeks later - and it was raised that Cassisi as captain of the club - should sack him as his manager - Connors was apologetic in tone, explained his posiition with Ball and said Port should concentrate on building there list as they had good kids from the 2006, 07 and 08 draft and that we had 3 top 16 picks in the 2009 draft.

Five years on time has proved he was right, Dom never sacked him and he has been involved in getting his players to Port. Despite being pissed of at the time, the last 5 years shows he is a bloody good operator for his clients and clubs dont have a problem dealing with him.

Paddy at his wedding today.

Yeah we can have all three, but Essendon and Richmond only have 2 of those things. They can have their fancy membership and crowd figures while ignoring their huge lack of on-field success.
Since their last flag in 1980 Richmond have a 3-7 record in finals.

Interesting fashion sense from Paddy with the shorts, jacket, sneakers and bow tie combo!

Hope he had a brilliant day.

New on here,it might take me a bit to suss this caper out. But with regards to Paddy in his shorts he just had a winter in melbourne and FNQ is pretty humid, ive been there in winter and I was wearing shorts and a tshirt at night while the locals had jumpers on

Just watching the last quarter of the Richmond v Essendon fixture from late this year. Ryder did well in the ruck contests against Maric but looked exhausted in his movement around the ground, not to mention grossly under-sized against Maric who took two big contested marks against him in the last few minutes. He just couldn't go with Maric who ran the game out much better and looked fresher.

Burgess' ability to get him much fitter will be vital to ensuring we get the most out of him both in the ruck and up forward.

He's also going to have a lot more expectation put on him to get involved in contests at ground level after the hit-out.

Absolutely loved Patrick's shorts on ( his day !!!! ) .............what a gun, i bet his wife loved his shorts, she would love his big long legs. Anyone that can bag him is sad and bored.
I love your legs Patrick ;)
