Movie Paranormal Activity

I'm one of the rare folks who actually missed all the preamble hype for BWP, and yet thoroughly enjoyed it.

With Paranormal activity, again, if there was pre-match, I missed it. I again realised by the end I'd thoroughly enjoyed it, but its NO BWP.

Noddy, sorry, was just on Smart-arse for that evening. Was surprised anyone could say they thought A Nightmare On Elm Street was a quality scare. It seemed more like high school humour to me. But I should retract as far as to say, if you saw it while in High School, then yeah, it'd be scary.

I saw Poltergeist when about 10, and hence have great respect for it to this day. Had I seen it as a 20-something, I may have been less affected. (plus the evening after seeing it, I stayed at an aunt/uncle's place, where there was indeed, a huge clown, on a chair at the foot of my bed. Dead set not kidding.)

Can I recommend another similar "chill" style film to BWP and to what PA does a reasonable job towars : "Lake Mungo".

I agree with you that these days ANOES is more humourous than scary. That's why I said it was outdated but in it's time it was scary(at least I thought so). It's the only horror movie I've ever had nightmares over. These days I wouldn't even put it in the horror genre. It's more fantasy.

That's why I was disappointed with the remake. Freddy is lacking his sense of humour and his cat and mouse games that he plays with his victims. They've just made it into a run of the mill slasher flick.

I haven't seen the remake, got burnt too often with too many of the horrible horro remakes, and have just stopped giving them a chance!

Nightmares? Yeah Poltergeist did that to me, as a kid. And the other one was (the obviously campy and over-the-top) Evil Dead. Again, being fairly young at the time, and staying at a sister and bro-in-law's home where I had not before been, sometimes the environment contributes to the effect!

Anyways, yes I apologise to the bored ones in advance, but I rate BWP as about top 3 horrors in my opinion (original Amityville Horror is my far and away #1), and I am a fan of Paranormal Activity though don't see it as up to the BWP standard.

I guess there are just two types of us when it comes to horror, and we're all just gonna have to live with it ... :)
