Movie Paranormal Activity

I loved this movie and I loved how they made it. So I went out and bought The Blair Witch Project. Holy shit that was a terrible movie. I'd heard all about how scary this movie was so I was really exited. NOTHING flipping HAPPENS! I was just waiting for it to be scary, and it never came. Could of been alot better

I loved Blair Witch.. mainly for the natural acting (PA did not match this level imo).. and the hopelessness of their situation (ie. getting lost in the woods CAN happen- even if you dont believe in witches lol)... as for stuff happening, the scares occurr more off screen than on. (Another thing I liked). My 2 cents...

Hey i bought it for $5, how much did you get yours for?!?

from memory the main difference between the two was that the blair witch was leaked as a true story originally and used the internet really well to generate publicity, people watched it thinking it was a real life story caught on tape

paranormal was shot the same way but you knew it was a movie filmed that way

Well I see they had announced that Saw VI Director Kevin Greutert was hired to direct Paranormal Activity 2.

In retaliation, the SAW franchise partners (not happy at all) then announced they had decided to exercise an 'option' requiring him (Greutert) to direct the next Saw 3D.

So that now leaves PA 2 with no producer. Both are scheduled to be released on 22 October.

some movies are scary due to what u see and good scary music to build suspense.

This movie is scary an doesnt require any of the hollywood stuff.
Which makes it seem more real and scary.

1 thing that annoyed me is the lights.
seriously u hear noises late at night the 1st thing u do is turn on as many lights as possible an grab a weapon.
But so many times he just ran out didnt bother turning lights on an grabbed the camera.
WTF

Great movie def not overdone
Hollywood movies can learn alot from this type of movie

Cant wait for saw in 3D.:thumbsu:

so whats the final answer on paranormal activity

Is it based off a true story?
Or is it just mad by some guy who is into the paranormal stuff an thought it would be cool to make a movie the way they try to catch paranormal stuff.

It's not based on a true story, it's just made up but marketed as though it was

Er, that's exactly how Paranormal Activity was released.

Paranormal Activity was distributed virally online in 2007 and shown at Screamfest. A few executives heard about it, signed the director on board and eventually Spielberg got wind of the project. He convinced the director to change the ending, to make it more viable for mainstream media.

The way Blair Witch was hyped online, felt more real then PA. It was one of the first movies I can remember, that was filmed like that, and the back story and websites with the back stories that I read before it's release hooked me in. When I heard of PA, you immediately knew that it was just another movie, using that hand held, self shot camera angles.

How can they have a release date without a producer (or was it director?)[/quote]

Yeah, they are in the sh1t. They went and announced to the world who they had and that it was going to be released same day as SAW 3D..and then...*kapow*..they were left with egg on their faces. Simple answer is they either postpone the release or find someone..quick.

Just watched this and I thought it had genuine suspense. The guy's obsession with the camera was a bit over the top though. Didn't work as well as in Blair Witch.

How can people not have found the last scene in Blair Witch spooky when she saw her friend standing in the corner of the room??!!

Don't worry. That scene freaked the hell out of me as well. Really got into the story from the start of Blair Witch Project which made the last scene have a great effect on me.

Gives me shivers just thinking about it.

I know the movie doesn't get much love around here but i loved The Blair Witch Project.

Much better than this movie. Much Much better.

I agree really. Although i do remember being 18 or so when Blair Witch came out, was really sucked in by the PA for it. :D And the end did freak me out as well.

Blair Witch kicked arse. One of my favourite movies. And yeah...that end scene had me spooked for days....made me look up a whole bunch of theories on usenet about what happened once they went into the house.

the ending to Blair witch was spooky I agree. I think it has been unfairly criticized more for the cheap way in which it was produced. But it is good to see movies come out that aren't just part of the Hollywood formula mill.

I just watched this on Box Office. It was the most boring movie I've ever seen in my life. Honestly, I fell asleep a couple of times. It's similar to the Blair Witch Project which I went to see with a mate when it came out. He came out shaking whereas I thought it was boring.

I thought A Nightmare on Elm Street which I saw at the cinema last weekend was scarier(which isn't saying much, (not a patch on the original). The original ANOES is the scariest movie I have ever seen. I was 15 when it came out and I saw it at the cinema. Honestly, I didn't want to sleep for a week. It's outdated now but man it was scary back in the 80s.

Man, what a disappointment that was. Boring, not scary at all. I guess some people just scare easy.

And couldn't agree more about rude f***s in cinemas. Invariably I always end up sitting next to chatty fricken selfish knobs or idiots rustling their stupid lolly or whatever the **** they're eating thru the whole ******* movie. ****! Sick of paying money to be annoyed by you rude *****! STFU!!!!!

I feel better now.

i think by now the hype has killed it for alot of people, when i watched it i knew **** all about it, so expectations were low

I wish I could help.
