Who does your wife/girlfriend/hubby/boyfriend support in the great game of footy? Do they follow your lead and support the same side, or do they go for someone else? Perhaps they hate the game and don't go for anyone?

Also, is it a good thing that they support that club which is either the same or different? Would you rather they did/didn't support your side? Does it matter to you? Can you take them to the footy, or do you embarress her, or even vice versa?

Should be some interesting discussion. :)

Mrs Pornstar is a Geelong fan. That's ok by me cos if she was a bomber she might want to come to the games with me and that's just not on. I get pretty keyed up when the game is on and i don't want her next to me yap yap yapping away "Who is that player? Why did he kick it there? What was that free for?".

Mrs Destructive does'nt like AFL. She hates that I go to the Swans games. She says that its victorian, and that I should not like it cause I'm from NSW.

I was at a Hawthorn-Essendon game in the early 90s where this couple were having a domestic to end all domestics. The row finally ended when the young lady poured a full plastic cup of beer over the young lad who sat there looking pathetic with beer dripping off the end of his nose. This prompted me to declare loudly "Supporting different teams is trouble. See that's what happens when you're in a mixed marriage!".

Ms Brookes has been sucked into the Hawthorn fold although she does have a soft spot for the Bulldogs.

Collingwood unfortunately. He is allowed one big flaw ... and this is definitely it ;)

Luckily I am not letting that particular defect pass down through the next generation ... our daughter is a Hawk and rubs that fact in at every opportunity ;)

Currently unattached. My previous Mrs was a Hawthorn fan, and we went to the footy a fair bit. We never seemed to watch a lot of footy though....

Mrs dbcrow is a crows supporter :D

Lucky, otherwise she wouldn't be Mrs dbcrow:D :D :D

Cheers

I think this is the first time I've ever gone out with someone who barracks for Collingwood. Who people barrack for never bothers me. It's more important to me that they at least barrack for someone. Because football is so big for me, they need to understand that.

Even though I'm now seeing someone who is as much into football as I am, I still don't really like sitting with a partner at the game. Not sure why, but it can be distracting to me. I'd rather sit with good mates or my dad and brother.

Mrs Destructive thinks I'm a bad influence.:p :p

I'm a free agent so I'm not affected by this at all. But I think it would be great if any hypothetical future Bomber Spirit partner were to be interested in footy - otherwise I wouldn't see much of her on Sunday afternoons.;) ;)

Collingwood  :p

I find it weird going to the footy with an opposition supporter, as I'm used to going with friends/relatives who are all Port supporters.

I find that the company is good with the person, but it takes away from the game a bit! Plus I like to lose my voice at the footy, so I guess I can do that with no shame when I'm with friends ;)

The dear Mrs Makepeace35, is a Richmond supporter but she doesn't go to much (like most Tigers fans she has given up on this year and refuses to go to another game)

She has gone with me to a few Roos games but I don't like it too much, I prefer going with mates

As like sapaul, i am also without a significant other:(

Why the sad face? Being single beats being nagged. :D

Been out with two Port supporters (no, not at the same time). That was interesting to say the least.

Other girlfriends I've had didn't like football, it was never going to work out.

Better to have a partner who follows a different team than one that absolutely hates the game.

I have never gone out with someone who actively followed footy. It's pretty much been all indifferent Geelong supporters.

I'm sure she would love to hear that.

Hawthorn. It's definately hard to sit with her, as I felt restrained, and didn't go nuts as I usually would. Still, it beats having a girlfriend who doesn't support the same side, or worse, doesn't like the game. At least she understands in some way why I am so obsessed with the game.

Poor girl! ;)

As her catgirl2002 handle suggests, Jennifer also barracks for Geelong. And yes, we are loving life at the moment. :)

But like Mandy said, it doesn't matter who your significant other supports. Just like any other aspect of a relationship for most people, a lot of give-and-take is involved. It's just another thing to manage-- but as long as two people love one another, that's all that matters. :)

Cheers,
William
