So there wont be complaints from you if someone runs straight through Walsh and knocks him out and he misses a bunch of weeks as long as the player at some point was looking at the ball ?
It's a physical game , it happens. The day the greenies move in and want no contact will be a sad day for the game. It's already heading down that path

If it's incidental contact in a legitimate contest, then no issues at all - it happens.

Only a few weeks ago there was an accidental head clash in the Carlton/Saints game - should Dan Butler or Hunter Clark have been suspended for being careless?

AFL should have suspended Butler because he wasn’t concussed. If both weee concussed then both players should have been suspended.

Was this your stance when Dangerfield accidently knocked out Kreuzer ?
I didn't think that incident was worthy of a week, but I do think there is a distinction. Danger was breaking the rules of AFL because he tackled Kreuzer without the ball and a free kick was called accordingly.

I may stand corrected, but I don't think a free kick was called against Cripps - which would make sense if the umpires saw the collision as part of a contest and not a head high bump.

I think you have brain damage. Cripps has never been reported in his life and now he is a thug.
Neil balme - now there is the definition of thug.
that's the era that rubbish belongs in, entirely my point!

it was absolutely thuggery from Cripps, and won't be forgotten

The Ah Chee family certainly won't forget the sickeningfeeling they must havehad watchign that

Frustrating result as I’ve now gotta change my tip margin from a 10 to 9 goal Carlton loss this weekend.

Glad sanity prevailed and we preserved the tradition of knocking a bloke out to rev your team up. For a moment I thought the game had gone soft.

Settle down a bit lol. Your acting like he murdered him.

I guess Carltons who are celebrating Cripps getting off have found it in their hearts to forgive Milburn for doing a similar thing to Silvagni

Milburns was actually in a marking contest to be fair

So jumping off the ground and hitting an unprotected player both late and head high is ok as long as you put your arms our after you hit him

Is that the rule? Because it's confussing as ****

Wow that video is well made. Imagine showing that to overseas sports fans who think their sport is tough or dangerous. Brutal.

Milburn's eyes wasn't on the ball and Cripps wasn't going around clapping and smiling like a psychopath. And that hit was was a lot bigger.

For quite a while, the onus has been on the player to avoid concussing someone. There are numerous examples of players being suspended for in-game actions that are considered careless.

The AFL is a disgrace. They are unable to write rules that are clear, because they want the ambiguity to allow themselves to “respond quickly” (to media pressure). And now it comes back to bite them.

In my opinion, these actions should be fine. But the AFL wants to stamp out concussions, so why not specifically state that an action causing concussion is two weeks?
Agree fully. However what happens if someone is concussed by someone's knee as they take the mark of the year?

Under the terrible ruling by Gleeson at the original appeal "let's call it a bump without even discussing whether it's a bump" a player taking a screamer would be liable for any injury caused in a marking contest no matter how incidental or what the intent was.

Great news for the blues
Terrible look for the AFL.
No wonder we have clubs like pies and crows go through trouble with cover ups and saying one thing whilst doing another they’re just mimicking the parent business.
I have no Ill feelings for the blues it’s actually helps the dockers if they win the next two.
But the afl is a load of shit that’s has no set rules besides making money and protecting assets !
