So, uhhh, apparently he wants out of Carlton and to move back to WA at the end of the year, according to the Carlton board.

Thoughts on where he lands and how much he would cost?

31yo next season, with 2 years to run on his contract. Been durable though.

WCE tragic growing up and cousin currently plays at the club(if he plays on next season).

Freo would get a massive boost if he went there instead, would he go to WCE and basically throw away any chance of a shot at a flag he could have by going to Freo?

No Carlton fans, WCE won't be trading Reid for Patrick Cripps, under any scenario.

Too old for West Coast and freo dont need him. If he was going anywhere it wouldn't be back to Perth.
Hes not too old for west coast, anybody between 24 and 31 is the right age.
Its only how unreasonable Carlton want to be on trade value that would affect how viable it is for west coast

If im Patrick Cripps, after playing an entire career at Carlton, I think I'd rather retire than play for the eagles TBH.

If Carlton trade out curnow (like rumours suggest might happen) then staying means committing to a rebuild at Carlton.
If he wanted to come back to wa and play for his favourite club then this would be his opportunity.
Yes it rules him out of winning a flag, but he wouldnt be winning one at Carlton anyway.

Any of the top 6 or so sides wouldnt be offering him much of a contract, compared to what he'd get at Carlton or West coast.

Idk what he wants to do post footy but if he did want to move back to wa after retirement it'd make sense to do it now and get a big pay check mentoring reid and the other young mids

If you could get him on the cheap he'd be great. Protect the kids in the middle, show them the ropes for a couple years and so on.

If there's any significant cost though, I can't see how it's worth it. The Eagles need all the talent they can get.

Must be said too, what's in it for Carlton (outside of the sentimentality of doing right by a champion) if he's going across on the cheap?

I'd be thinking pick 2 for Cripps +6 or whatever the tdk compo is would be ballpark if they wanted to get CDT or duursma.

Maybe the hawks 1st+ a late pick(hawks 3rd rounder?) for cripps, or some priority pick deal

Typically you'd think he would be Freo bound as they're in their window but apparently he's a crazy Eagles nuffie, similar to how Baker was before he joined us, we're a chance I think. Presuming of course that he actually wants to leave.

Baker had already won though, Cripps has spent his whole career pretty much rebuilding.

That'd be in the ballpark of what I'd be happy to do if I was the Eagles.

If it was a top 12 pick or so (if you split for instance) I wouldn't touch it, but those ideas work IMO. Whether the Blues are willing is another thing. Late first, or as you say, slight pick downgrade.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the one complication would be Cameron? who you'd probably be trying to acquire on a similar deal.

Patrick Cripps for AFL compensation pick should be the deal. Give Eagles pick 10 that we must trade away and just trade it for Cripps

Technically durable, but often played with injury concerns, including this season.

Still when you see how other clubs manage say a Jack Martin or Kennedy, our club is as much to blame potentially. Wouldn't surprise me if with a new lease on life he'd have another near Brownlow year in him, but I hope he doesn't go obviously, yet also wouldn't blame him.

He was fantastic today. If he maintains a similar level the next 2 years he could absolutely be the difference between Freo winning a grand final or not. People saying "we don't need him" are insane.

Look at some of the absolute spuds still getting a game for Freo - but Patrick Cripps? Nah, we just can't fit him in, sorry.

2 for cripps +6
14 for Cameron

Still have 1, 6, 19, 32 in the draft or to get other players

If we get priority picks then it all becomes a lot easier

Cripps for Pick 3 (Oscar Allen compo), Campbell Chesser and some Chris Mainwaring memorabilia.

Almost the entire season relative to previous years Cripps has looked either checked out or he’s over the hill and his body is too beat up. I wouldn’t be surprised if he cliffs sooner rather than later, especially if he loses any mobility.

If Carlton can get something good for him I’d take it and run. Their current list build is cooked. Time to rebuild.

This could get very interesting.

Just watching some updates and Blues father son Dean could attract bids before or around the TDK compo pick. So pick 7 / 8 ish.

Around 1'200 points before discounts.

So was thinking how could we land that pick with say our 19 plus 38.

If Cripps wants to play a couple of years on top dollar at the Eagles it doesnt cost them much in draft capital. A player and some late picks to use for points to cover Dean.

Happy to have him as a salary cap dump and both clubs looking after a champion. Would be great to have supporting the kids for a year or two.

And lets be real. Cripps is a banged up warrior who may have half a season left in his body like Fyfye this year. If he wants top dollar and the Blues get cap relief thats the deal. Not top draft picks.

Realistically we arent going to get him for super cheap. He's still a very good player, and the blues giving him away for anything less than a first rounder would actually get fans burning down ikon park.

Hes banged up but hes still been pretty durable, played every game this year after winning the brownlow last year. Hes not Fyfe or Yeo lol.
We could just give him a couple of rests if needed too, no biggie.

The but about Dean getting a top 10 pick bid is why I think the blues would be keen to trade up as part of a Cripps deal.

Jagga, CDT and Dean over 2 years as top 10 picks is a solid start to a rebuild.
We could even throw in JWilliams or something if they dump Curnow/McKay for picks too.
