Evening all.

In a pretty dissapointing start to your season been pretty impressed with "Duffman's" efforts both team wise and stats wise for you guys.

IIRC hes averaging over 20 possesions.....Do you think this form will continue and how any games do you see him playing this season?

LOL, 8 turnovers against Essendon and god knows how many wasted possessions. He looks like another browne, gets the ball often and butchers it.

But I have hope Duffield can turn it around, let us all pray.

Great at finding it, some good runs, but like the rest he's turned it over. We need him to deliver the ball well if he is going to find it that much, otherwise who cares how many possies he gets and how many times he breaks the lines, if it rebounds just as fast for a goal, its worth 2 goals basically.

His turnovers have killed us.

I suspect he will move into the midfield once Hayden returns. In this case, his possessions will drop but so will his poor disposal.

Not bad start, very good first game but second was abysmal because of his disposal. Been in the system way to long to turn the ball over, if he keeps doing it he will get WAFL'd. If he improves his disposal I can see him staying in the team !!

If this is a Dream Team question under the guise of genuine interest, then do your own homework and take your own guesses like the rest of us have to.

Bloody scab.;)

was thinking the same thing....

If I was you i'd stick with raines/look at other options unless you think you're a chance of cracking the national comp - duffman tends to fall out of favour with selectors & fans alike fairly quickly - quite a few on here were calling for his head after his game on the weekend - personally though I'd have him in our best 22 & would pick him all year.

I would disagree with the critisism of Duff in this thread. IMO another of our players who is judged overly harshly. He had 20 disposals 5 marks and 4 tackles and was ranked 4th best of our players in efficiency in the stats at finalsiren.com.

I just watched the game again and paused it whenever he had the ball & studied the play.
He had a busy & flawless 1st quarter.
His first "turnover" occured with 7:53 to play in the second when he aimed a long ball inside 50 at Pav, Ryder dropped into the hole and intercepted.
With 5:50 left in the same quarter he was caught on the left after twisting and turning waiting for an option to present. Under intense pressure his left foot kick just failed to clear a defender and was intercepted. No score came from the resulting play.
A ball was spoiled off his boot a couple of minutes later and a goal was scored on the rebound.
His final "Turnover occured in the 3rd with 8:55 left to play. He was pulled off his kick by a Davey chase and the ball was marked near the wing. A 50 to Head meant the kick became a shot at goal.

Every other posession (and he had 20) hit the target. he provided good pressure around the contest and was instrumental in several turnovers that went our way including the steal by Rhys for that goal

Would be among the first picked this week I imagine.

Why the F$%@ would we drop Duffield when the 23rd player for the opposition in Browne is still in the team? My god.

I personally wouldn't drop Duffield, but he does lead the league in errors.

I guess if Head was getting more of the ball we would have a new leader.

Whilst true about the errors, at least Duff gets the ball, can mark it, and has about 300% more upside to him than Browne. Jeezus, what are the selectors on.

duffield should be one of the first in line to be dropped, he is just like gilmore... gets the ball but either makes the wrong decision or hasnt got the skill to kick it where it should go... having said that, thornton, head, brown and dodd would be ahead of him to be dropped... but id also drop michael johnson as well and we cant get rid of them all unfortunately:(

I hate Gilmore but I would have him in the team before Head and Browne. Those two are absolute shit.

Duffield's ahead of them also.

agree, although head has only played 5 games and his first two were quite ok... im prepared to give him one more chance... gilmore has played 20 odd games and imo hasnt shown anything much.... duffield just needs to get his skills up, if he could do that he would be a great player... fingers crossed

He's 24 years old, if he was a ruckman I'd agree with you on upside, but as a midfielder he should be good enough for AFL by now and not making those errors if he was AFL standard. Same with Browne and Head. Duff is slightly ahead of them, but I think because he is actually playing midfield he's easier to drop as we don't have the defenders to replace Head or forward to replace Browne (unfortunately) yet.

He has been pretty pathetic so far, hopefully he improves though as I am not quite sure how much longer you supporters can take.
Pathetic? Surely that's a little harsh. I've seen both of Freo's games, and let me say, he's bloody stiff if he gets dropped. He's actually been a standout, at least he's willing to go in and get his own ball as well creating space and trying to provide run through the backline. OK, maybe his skills aren't quite up to scratch, but really, who's skills at Fremantle are at the present time?

If this is Harvey's method of using Duffield as a scapegoat then I highly doubt it will prove effective. He has been FAR from Fremantle's worst player in the opening two rounds.
