Well after tonights game I think its safe to assume he won't be going to port (at least while williams is coach):p.

I still can't see the logic in playing pav on the half back flank against robert murphy:confused:

This is MADNESS!!

Cornes is hoping for one of the SA clubs to make Pavlich an offer he can't refuse

GRAHAM Cornes has urged the two Adelaide clubs to go for Fremantle's jugular by moving heaven and earth to recruit South Australian Matthew Pavlich.

The Dockers captain and gun forward dismissed lucrative offers from elsewhere to sign a $2.5million, three-year deal with the club last year.

But as debate rages whether Pavlich, 26, might live to regret the decision, Cornes said the Crows and Power should reignite exhaustive bids to lure him home.

"If I was in charge at Adelaide, I'd be asking the question every year and be making it almost impossible for him to stay there,'' Cornes said.

"From the word go, since Pavlich moved to Perth, commentators like myself have encouraged Port and the Crows to try and lure him back.

"The WA and Victorian clubs have been successful at bringing players back home, but it's something we've not been that good at.

"There's no doubt the Adelaide clubs would be better teams with him in them.

"But you've got to give Pavlich credit for showing loyalty, staying there and believing in the club's cause more than anything.''

Pavlich was believed to have considered a move home last year, but eventually re-signed with Fremantle in the belief it could soon win a premiership.

But the Dockers are no longer in flag contention this year with just one win from seven games.

At the time of the deal last season, Pavlich said: ``I wanted to be the person to lead this club obviously into a different era. We're going to have a different coach; we're going to have new players.

"It was all about me being happy in Perth, in my football and personal life.''

The four-time best-and-fairest winner's existing contract is a major hurdle to any club wanting to snare him, as it would have to satisfy Fremantle with an almost unthinkable selection of top-shelf draft picks and trade options.

And the Dockers would be unlikely to let Pavlich go as the club begins to devise a list strategy in the wake of its worst start to a season since 2001.

Ever wondered why?

These Adelaide people just won't take a hint will they?

Isn't this poaching? Can't see Pav being interested and there's no way Port or the Crows could go close to coming up with a satisfactory trade while he's under contract.
If I was Freo(and I'm not) the trades asked for would be beyond what either SA clubs would pay
From the Crows,Rutten + Van Berlo + single digit draft pick
From the Power,1 Cornes + Westoff + single digit draft pick

Pavlich has too much class to hold Freo to ransom at the end of his contract and I cannot see him leaving

With the exception of Van Berlo, the players are South Australians and would want to go home ASAP even in the most unlikely scenario they even agreed to it. It would need to be picks and basically impossible.

Just finished reading the Sunday Times, just needed a reminder on why I don't bother with it. That Cornes article is a joke! To move Pav while he is under contract, forgetting for a moment that both Freo and Pav would have to agree, would be almost impossible. It would take one top 3 pick, another top 7ish and two good young West Aussies. No club would want to pay that, or be able to pay it. If he was out of contract AND a SA club finished wooden spoon then maybe he might get there.

Until free agency comes in there is no chance of Pav going home.

Why print trash like that article?

And surely he would have been more useful up forward than Mooney?

I can't help but think William's use of Pav was payback for him turning Port down. Choco strikes me as spiteful mofo sometimes.

yeah wtf was that all about?

playing pavlich in the backline is one thing, but why play him on someone as nimble as robert murphy

should have put him on the wing or in the guts

I don't think so Esti, I mean where else can you play Mooney? At least Pav gives you options in the midfield or the back half.

I was surprised Chocco didn't throw him on the ball?

How good would Roger have been in that back 6?

We'll be trading you Robert Shirley plus a pick in the 40's for the giant Pavlova.

Take that Lach you bitch! It is because I say it is!

Port made a massive play for Pav last year and he was very close to coming. His gf was a major stumbling block and didnt want to move. I think it was his last chance to move home and he chose to stay in the purple. He has had enough chances to escape but he has chosen his own demise! :thumbsd:

If they made such a big move for Pav, as you think,

Pray tell what offer, was on the table, players and draft picks etc.

It was pretty evident on Saturday night that Choco was bitter for Pav not going back to Port. Much better forward then Mooney and Richo but insetad he is the one that gets moved away from the forward post even though he was the most dangerous looking one of the three.

What a waste of a match, bet he wishes he stayed home.
