Didn't see the indicent ... what is the general consensus? will he be ok? Apparently he was reported for striking (high contact) Darryl Wakelin after Wakelin had taken a coragous mark.

It was said that Pavlich tried to remove his arm from contact but he still made considerable impact.

Can anyone who saw this incident please enlighten me?

Reprimand IMO. If he gets weeks or even one i will not watch footy until he plays again. Being suspended for that would be a travesty.

I hope he doesn't get suspended. It was an accident and no harm was done to the player. It was no where near as bad as the case where Krakour recklessly kicked Milburn in the head in the NAB cup while trying to kick the ball. So based on this precendent he should get off. Pav also has a very good record which will help.

Report should be thrown out - eyes squarely on the footy on the tv replay...Wakelin went down like he'd been knocked out by Mike Tyson, but was running around again as soon as he knew port had the ball.

I saw the Pav report and to me a 50m penalty was all it deserved. It just goes to show how soft this game of ours has become.

Pav will be fine........purely accidental with eyes only for the ball.

If he gets suspended for that then there is seriously something wrong with this great game of ours.

PAVLICH should get off this. When you look at the lack of response by Port players against him after the incident shows on the ground it appeared to be accidental contact (hope they don't go at him for being reckless)

If he gets suspended at all, I reckon the tribunal should go shoot themselves.

If Pav does get suspended, then i believe Freo are targeted.
Because it sure will seem that way, compared to other clubs.

If he gets done i will follow another sport rather than this soft fu*king game. Maybe rugby atleast they are aloud to make contact with each other.

Farmer deserved 6 weeks, Matt Carr was lucky to get a week. Johnson was unlucky and should have only got 2 weeks, but even if Pav gets a week or two I don't think we are being targetted.

Do you believe if james hird committed the exact same offence as Johnson's he would have received 4 weeks???
Ala..... Nathan Buckley??
Ala.... James Crawford??
Ala.... Chris Judd?? etc.etc.etc
IMO, don't believe these high profile players would have.

Not a lot in it. If he didnt have eyes on the ball, and had a clenched fist it might be different. But eyes on the ball and open hand he should be OK.

Hes a fair player and I dont think there was any malice in it.

Could be an idea to post this question on the main board. You've got more chance of getting unbiased opinions that way.

Was close to the incident and was not surprised when he book came out. Didn't look deliberate or nasty, but it did look unnesessary. They are going hard at any head contact, and I think he could be found guilty and cop a reprimand, or, perhaps a week.

doesnt matter if its accidental....thats why they have 'negligent'

This is what I don't get (at least in regards to this rule - I don't get the whole game anymore). How on earth did Krakouer get off for KICKING Milburn in the head if saying something is 'accidental' is not an excuse??

I can't see Pav getting off for the pure and simple reason that he wears purple. My only hope is that the Crawford penalties from when he was snipering Bell and Dunn mean that Pav will cop a reprimand at worst. The game is an absolute joke.

I will be watching a plethora of head high contact incidents with great interest: Crowley (apparently?), Basset and Kane Johnson.
If they don't get weeks we should be more than a little peeved.
The other one I'll be watching with interest is the Aaron Davey one which was almost identical to M Carr's. The funny thing is that the miked up ump could be heard telling Davey that "its only a free kick Aaron nothing more in it than that"...? I bet he doesn't even get sighted.
