Alright people so windows 10 was much more kind and worked beautifully so I'm up and running.

It's a rats nest I know, but was the only way I could really get it without twisting stuff too much or blocking fans more, especially if I had routed the main power through upper right. Would have liked another fan lower front but the big boy as you can see is blocking that. Aesthetics aren't a big thing for me though.

Last little while been have setting up gsync and other control panel graphic settings. Capped the FPS to 117 on my 120hz tv is that about right? Or better to leave uncapped?

Got some driver updates in too not sure how much they are gonna help.

Horse holding his own too under the big boy. Cheaper than a bracket. Carey's head was slightly too big.

Probably won't bother upgrading to windows 11 for a while to be honest, even after I update the bios.

Ordered another 16gb stick earlier on so I'll have a pretty good system here.

I think I'll call her...Lucy.
Nice.

Great to see Horse doing the job!

Need some advice for a motherboard.

I want to run dual GPU's so I can pass through one to a VM, and keep the other on the host machine . (This leads me to question things like pcie slots x16/x4 vs x8/x8 , as well as a third PCIe Slot for a SAS card. SAS card doesn't need a full length pcie slot, but does need x8

been using this, but I'm a little stuck.

Been a while since I poured over the minutiae of this stuff and I don't know what the latest Intel chipset offers in terms of pcie lanes and stuff, but when I was building mine the only way to have enough dedicated lanes for nvme drives and not have to pinch them from the GPU slot was to go x570. I'm assuming using the same logic you'll have enough lanes for 16/8 in both GPU slots but I don't know about the third slot as I've never needed to use anything in them and I don't know if using it will rip 4 away from the second slot and turning it into 16/4/4. This is something I really have little experience in, I play vidya gaems :D

Cool, I just wanted to know if there was going to be any performance penalty if I ended up with 16/8/8 for the GPU's

I don't think current gen GPUs are throttling on 8 lanes. I'm sure there is a difference between gen 3 and 4 pcie but without looking up some charts I'm pretty sure the consensus was it wasn't a problem.

Apparently GPU prices are in freefall? Just chucked "Asus 3080" into Google and getting results with huge price drops.

...just in time for 4000 series 😁

Yeah looking at the 3080 prices on Ozbargain has been crazy.

Feel like I should have waited a bit longer but the 3080ti prices haven't dropped much so don't feel as bad.

Can't always just live life by waiting for a better deal because you just never know. Still think you did pretty good.

True that. Think my wife says that to herself about me everyday 🤣

I don't think they do. I tried before and they said they don't normally do it. They did it for me because it was about $40 on a $700 monitor but on something cheaper I doubt they will.

Anyone know if PLE price match?

Chasing a new keyboard, anyone using a black widow v3?

I use a Blackwidow Elite as it was the only Razer using silent tactile mechanical switches. V3 looks like just a wireless version of the Elite, obviously without the USB passthrough and only offers linear and clicky tactile switches.

I’m looking at the yellow linear switches thinking it’ll be nicer to type on as I use it for both work and gaming.

Typing on my Cynosa Chroma is awful…

Everyone is different but I find linear switches pretty poo to type with

Maybe I should try some different ones out at PLE.

Definitely do that. I have the Black Widow v2 and tried out the different switches at PLE before buying it.

You might not have any problems with them. I just found that because linear switches have very little to no feedback that it was too easy to type the wrong key. It would happen to me frequently in gaming too when things got too hectic. I really prefer having that tiny bump when pressing the keys. Now, I don't know whose idea it was that loud clicky was a good thing. Main reason I didn't go for the Razer Hunstman. Blackwidow Elite I think are/were one of the last Razer keyboards to come with their Orange switches which are silent tactile.

Ended up with a Blackwidow V3 with green switches, so much better than my old keyboard!

The purple switches on the Huntsman mini felt real nice as well.

I use that same Basilisk and can vouch for it.

Nice, I wasn’t really in the market for a mouse but I got it for $160 so jumped.

Just pulled it out of the box and it feels great, a bit lighter than the G502 I was using.

Keyboard is amazing as well, didn’t realise how crap my old one was!
