Do you guys have a Steam deck? Just want to know how well the track pads translate to what I assume is WASD+mouse.
I have a Steam Deck, don't think I would ever use the left trackpad for WASD I'd just use the joystick for movement. though there was a game I used it as a dpad instead of the actual dpad, can't remember what?

trackpads mostly used for mouse only kinda games (strategy, CRPG maybe) and they work great for that, or you can bind other stuff to the trackpads for loads more keybinds than a normal controller, or kinda make it a radial menu or whatever. or for typing in games with on-screen keyboard

I'm absolutely gonna buy the Steam Controller just due to being a Valve cuck like omgfridge

Had one. Sold it.
Not sure if it was a dodgy GPU die or some undiagnosed compatability issues but couldn't get anything but basic games to run.

And unlike Switch/PC/PS5 etc etc when there was a graphical issue rather than having a fps crash for a couple of seconds it would instead just completely crash. Literally couldn't get out of the Elden Ring tutorial at the start. Other games were similar.
I don't have those issues but still I wouldn't advise anyone to buy a Steam Deck if they want to play demanding games especially if they're used to a gaming PC with good framerate

is not a great experience playing Cyberpunk, Elden Ring, BG3 etc imo. I only play the likes of Balatro, Vampire Survivors, Starwdew, Emulators, Ball Pit, Hades, Drova etc and it's great for that with 8-9hr battery life. it kinda got me into these games as I never played these types before purchasing it

I just want to see how it goes with stuff like Cities Skylines and Two Point Hospital that don't have gamepad support even though it would probably still be arse for Cities. It's unlikely to replace my other controllers but it's actually a bit of unique tech that I think I just want to get one to try out.
I'd die for my steamdeck. I run Two Point Museum on the deck (one of the few unverified games I do) and it runs completely fine. Closest thing I'd play to Cities on there is Halo Wars which also haven't had an issue with. Still genre of games I think PC with traditional mouse/keyboard can't be bettered.

I'm very much the same. I do play BG3 time to time on it but definitely prefer that on my PC. a high end game like Cyberpunk is not what I bought the Steamdeck for. Something like Control would probably be on the highest end I play on my deck. Play mostly what you said, rougelites especially. Slay the Spire II and Hades 2 getting the most attention lately.

While RAM and graphics cards might be up it's not all doom and gloom for anyone who might have been thinking about an upgrade or something new. Motherboard market might be on the way to crashing due to their lowest sales in a decade. Might not save much on a low-mid range board but also might be a good opportunity to "future proof" (as much as you can anyway in this hobby and as far as a motherboard goes) with a good price on a high end motherboard.

Scalpers have already made short work of the Steam Controller.
bought it when I woke up that day, already arrived. feels good, probably become my main controller due to the magnetic puck+battery life. feels larger than most which is good for me as most controllers feel too small and hurt my fingers. some people said it feels cheap but I don't get that, doesn't feel any worse than ps or xbone controllers

touchpads work great but I probably won't have that much use until I set up another PC in the main room. could use them for extra controls but haven't really tested that yet

What time did you order that day? I checked when I was getting ready for work around 6am that morning and it said out of stock which is what I expected. Then I was surprised to keep reading on Reddit all day people being able to get one. I assume it was going in and out of stock all day. I've been looking since just in case and just now as I check I see they've added a reservation button which sticks you in a queue and you get an email when you're next and have 3 days to pay. That's a pretty neat system IMO.

I bought at 6:08am. Had no issues, purchase went straight through. I think it didn't fully sell out in Australia until around midday.

Sounds similar to when I bought the white Steam Deck. PayPal purchase was glitching out and then it said sold out and I thought I missed out, then about 30 min later my gf messaged me to try again and it was back up and I used card instead

reservation queue is nice idea
