First I think Pearce is a great player. His attack at the ball and determination is fantastic. He is a good kick off the ball and generally uses the ball very well.

The thing is, his stocky little legs just dont pump hard enough to move his ample frame quick enough.

The times I have seen him played he always seem to be left behind when chasing down a player.

I just think he is too slow for AFL.

Dylan Roberton. If you think Clancee is slow, watch that bloke run.

As for Clancee, reckon he can be used off half back or half forward, where his ball use outweighs the disadvantage of being a bit off in pace. Then again, don't remember the last time I saw Pav make a tackle on a player in open space either while playing midfield, so mightn't be a fatal flaw there either.

Deserves to be upgraded at the end of the year IMO. Never going to be a star but he's a smart footballer who will give his all.

Really? I was a fan of Clancee in the past but think he's looked very average of late and hasn't done enough to warrant a place on the senior list next season.

Handy depth player but depending on our list management at seasons end he probably won't be in our top 30 players which doesn't warrant retention with such little upside.

A tad slow.
Lacks aggression and desperation.
Poor kick at goal.

Will always be a very good WAFL level player but unfortunately he'll always be just a list filler or depth player at the top level. He's for when the injuries blow out.

Most of our squad has looked average of late.

Not every player is going to be a superstar. Clancee is a footballer first and foremost, can play at either end and knows where the goals are.

He is a a good depth player and personally, I think he deserves to be promoted. Plus we need to keep him in so that every now and then whenever BT is commentating, he'll say his full name with excitement. CLANCEE PEARCE!

Can't get rid of players known by their first name - Kepler, Nat, Clive, Garrick, Viv, Tendai, Clancee...that is part of our drafting system.

Cruise Garlett is next.

CLANCEEEEEEE ...

is always going to be borderline isn't he. He's very good at a lot of things but doesn't have that explosive pace that a guy of his size needs if he's going to make the big-time his own.

I'm in the we should keep him - he's a good depth player who can play a few different areas dependably and well enough. I can't see him ever being in say a fully fit top 24, but he's proven he can come in and out and do a role. You need a couple of those at your club if you're going to be successful.

I like Clancee and as has been said, he should be promoted esp. if there is nothing out there better. Surely he's worth Schammer's spot?

What is his best position? Once he/they decide on that I think he might come good and get some consistency in his game, he can lay a tackle and his kicks don't hang players out to dry.

Correction to the above: he's f@*^ing slow!

Also add to the list of deficiencies - one sided. Never noticed it before but today he twice had the chance to use the left to deliver inside fifty to a player free and went on to his right and kicked to a contest.

He was put on Yarran, or at least Freo couldn't work out how to get somebody else on him, and that was just stupid. Pearce is slow, but even a quick player is made to loos slow when Yarran get's his run going. Pearce looked like he was going backwards, and if you're going to burnt like that you have to hurt the player the other way and he couldn't even do that when he had his chances.

Poor game from Clancee, but we were also asking him to do something he simply isn't capable of I think.

Agree that it was a horrid game from Clancee - but also agree that it was a job he wasn't capable of doing. Same deal with the roles given to Grover lately - he has been asked to stay with Rioli, Milne and then Betts - Groves has been great all year, but he ain't no speedster and asking him to do that sort of role is ridiculous. Really feel the coaches selections and assignments are helping to undermine both team confidence and player confidence, while at the same time almost setting up a guaranteed failure.

The disappointing thing today was his kicking. Normally his strength, today he was woeful. Has no other redeeming qualities to make up for it.

Chance of delist = high.

Spot on about the kicking - he has been very good in the past in kicking to deliver the ball deep inside our forward 50m. Today he stubbed every one of his kicks, and then seemed to revert to handballing only. He wasn't the only one with bad kicking today (Fyfe awful, ballas very mixed, broughts ordinary, even Pav stubbed two grubbers) but Pearce's errors were very important in stopping early chances at goals for us - and really set the momentum Carlton's way.

His next three games may well be the last chance he has to prove he is worthy of an upgrade to the senior list.

I'd like to defend him, but I just can't. I think it may be game over for him. I mean he wasn't the worst today, but in his situation being a rookie, he needs to show twice as much desperation and effort then the next bloke if he's serious about getting on the main list and continue his AFL career.

When I look back at his U18 championship before he got drafted and the way he played and deserved the MVP for WA team, I thought this bloke will be an awesome player. Just goes to show how things can change. Some players never take that next step.

There was a reason he slipped so far in the draft. I don't think it was a bad draft choice, unfortunately the chance of him ever succeeding was/is quite low.

It was more Yarran picking Clancee up PapaJ. Which is obviously smart by Carlton, get your quickest small defender to pick up the oppositions slowest small forward.

BUT, as soon play started after a centre bounce Ballantyne actually went to Yarran which left Clancee as an option for us going forward which he positioned himself quite well for. The only problem was the kicking to him was attrocious and when he did get a good pass, he then stuffed it up with his disposal.

OK, but what I saw often enough was Clancee chasing Yarran or trying to out pace him one-on-one to get some air to become a target. I'm sure what you're saying is right, but often enough Clancee was caught with Yarran and was burnt.

And yes (either way), one of Pearce's strengths is he makes himself dangerous enough, but that disposal was dead set terrible all day. He didn't have many chances (you often don't as a fwd flanker) and you've got to make 80%+ of them work if you're going to call it a job done - I don't think he got close.
