I keep wondering why Ballard hasn't been upgraded for a game or two yet. Does anyone know why that may be? Do they have him working on certain aspects of his game?
He seems to have been the most consistent player in the WAFL over the last 2 years based on looking at game statistics.
Someone needs to directly ask the club about Ballard's chances.
I haven't seen him this year but his disposal and decision making has been suspect (to say the least) in the past. The WAFL stats probably should include disposal efficiency and clangers to get a clearer picture of him as a player.
I have a feeling Ballard might end up being trade bait![]()

I've not been amazed by his kicking or pace but neither is bad by any stretch of the imagination.
Here's your issue: Fyfe, Mundy, Neale, Barlow, Clancee, Suban, Mzungu, DeBoer, Sheridan, Crozier.
If (god forbid) a few of those guys went down long term I would wager Ballard would be upgraded.
......I think the interesting question which remains unanswered is "how much of Ballard's form at WAFL level would be translated into AFL form?". It's a difficult thing to predict (and Lloyd and his team are obviously much better at it than us........). We know with Tendai and the great Mickey B, almost 100% of it translated (maybe their AFL form can be considered an upgrade on their WAFL/VFL form). This is probably more true of Tendai whom I saw play at WAFL level.
Anyway, Ballard is a really interesting player/prospect who displays an unbelievable attitude in terms of perseverance generally, work ethic in games and presumably (based on his development and fitness) in pre-season and in-season training. I really, really hope the guy gets a go (meaning a minimum of 3 games somewhere along the track) so the above question can be answered. If not this year, then I hope he gets upgraded to the main list for 2016. I'm very much in the camp that we want/need to be able to release Fyfe to a KPF role and watch him "carve up" Messrs Richards, Lake, Rance et al......
Good post!
not even sure if that's the right one ha haDo not rate. I can't see Sheridan doing anything for us, he's like a rag doll out there. If he was any good he'd be playing like Isaac Smith or Brad Hill for us by now.I've not been amazed by his kicking or pace but neither is bad by any stretch of the imagination.

Good post. But I want to pick on the bolded part. People are often saying on here how good it would be to have Fyfe forward more often. But, how many of Fyfe's contested marks has he taken when he's been matched up on a key forward? I'd suggest it's a very low figure. It's one thing to sneak forward and dominate against a midfielder. It's a very different thing to spend significant time forward matched up against Luke McPharlin.
. He has so many weapons. I think he can beat the bigger KPDs on the lead (lateral or towards the kicker) and he can destroy them on the ground. He certainly won't be pushed off the ball. I also think with his relative speed and elite endurance, he can kill them on the way back. I think of him as potentially a better version of Nick Riewoldt rather than a (wash my mouth out....) better version of the Great Pav. He has to learn the position but so far he's shown himself to be an outstanding student of the game and a driver of team structures. Here's your issue: Fyfe, Mundy, Neale, Barlow, Clancee, Suban, Mzungu, DeBoer, Sheridan, Crozier.
