They’ll move on quickly - George is effectively dead to them now
The Catholics bishops conference already has

Archbishop Mark Coleridge, the president of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference, has released a statement on the appeal.
He says the conference believes “all Australians must be equal under the law and accept today’s judgement accordingly”.
“The bishops realise that this has been and remains a most difficult time for survivors of child sexual abuse and those who support them,” Coleridge said in the statement.
“We acknowledge the pain that those abused by clergy have experienced through the long process of the trials and appeal of Cardinal Pell. We also acknowledge that this judgement will be distressing to many people.
“We remain committed to doing everything we can to bring healing to those who have suffered greatly and to ensuring that Catholic settings are the safest possible places for all people, but especially for children and vulnerable adults.”

2 to 1

Just shows the inadequacy of the legal system, where three experienced judges who put a lot of consideration into this couldn't agree on the outcome.
It doesn’t mean it is inadequate at all. Our legal system is one of the best in the world. Nothing will ever be perfect.
However, on a side note. Two judges decided that the guilty verdict brought down by the jury of the second trial should stand. The third appeal judge thought the other two were mad. It’s hard to make judgement either way on this. I just hope they got it right.

No he effing didn't, he just thought it was possible that Pell was not guilty.

OK, humour me, why did they dismiss his appeal - and don't say "politics" when he had two character references from ex prime ministers from the same party as the serving government.
You do realise that the courts are separate from politics don’t you? Judicial, Legislative and Executive. Look them up!

Let’s think a bit more broadly now that the verdict has been upheld - the vast majority of Bishops in this country were put forward / sponsored by Old Mate - they are effectively illegitimate being put in place by a convicted child sex offender - the same man who set up The Melbourne Response to help survivors of the same...process that defenders of George - the jigs up - YOUR’E GONE!

Actually, at this stage Chief Bruce is only "entitled" to his opinion on the Conspiracies board.

Not here.

Why are you trying to shut down free speech? At the very least you want him banned because his opinion doesn’t conform to your views.

Still continues to call him a liar despite all the evidence and convictions confirming the abuse

He’s a grub of a person

No. He was honest. It’s the complainant who is,
Really ? You’re going to play dumb?

It's not playing dumb. I consider the complainant in the Pell case to be a liar (although perhaps a victim but in other circumstances).

I mentioned on one single other occasion that one of a number of personal abusers towards me was not behaving in a manner suggestive of one who had been abused.

If you can perhaps point me to these 3 I would be most grateful.

Nope. There 're other reasons to have him banned as discussed earlier.

Why do people who abuse others continue to demand right of free speach?

1 - no such rule in Australia

2- Definitely no such rule in BF.

Because I'm not a coward........and I'll ignore some of the more offensive stuff directed my way.

1. I'm gutted. I don't know Pell personally. I've met him a couple of times. He's a kind of aloof bloke. That's as much as I know personally.

2. I'm gutted because of what this means for him personally, and for anyone else who gets accused and is on the wrong political side.

3. I won't express my reasons for disgust at the majority judges. But I am disgusted. And there are plenty of non-Catholics who share that disgust.

4. For those celebrating. Some for personal reasons. Some political. Good luck to you.

5. An innocent man is and will (at least until a High Court appeal finds otherwise) continue to be in gaol for a crime he couldn't have committed and that is an absolute indictment on our society.
Nothing personal but you've been supporting Convicted Child Abuser George Pell from the very beginning and even now, in the face of overwhelmingly incontrovertible evidence, you still can't admit you were wrong by relinquishing your baffling support for this vile creature.

I can only assume you feel it is more vital to demonstrably show support for the Catholic Church than it is to denounce Child Abuse and condemn those guilty of partaking in the practice.

Who did Bruce abuse? Nearly everyone on here has abused him for his opinion on the Pell matter.

Scott Morrison is from a denomination that isn’t overly fond of Catholicism. Less likely to be a massive fan of pell as a result, other than the general ring kissing all lib pollies were required to do. Imagine he’ll be happy to cut him loose now. Much more so than an Abbott would have been

Scomo was happy to stand with Hillsong whose actual founder was a pedo and his son alleged to have covered all of it up. He has no qualms defending pedos

Those who are willing to go that far standing with pedos and their accomplices will not change that just because a few of them are going to jail. That's just how depraved that clique is

I have spoken directly to people who have. Who are senior enough to properly understand the issues. Who don't like Pell.

The characterisation of the complainant's evidence as "compelling" is bulls**t. I have seen everything else, much of which was not even challenged by the prosecution. And I saw directly the Prosecution's closing. And accepting every word of the Prosecution's closing doesn't come close to defeating reasonable doubt.

Had to make a one-time reappearance in this cesspool to see your reaction, and it’s as entertaining as I thought.

You’ve been full of crap from the beginning when you were claiming the charges would be withdrawn pre-committal. You have repeatedly posted “inside info” which has ranged from half-truths to outright falsehoods, and engaged in ludicrous purported attempts at analysis.

It’s beyond more conspiracy theory ramblings to the point of being quite sinister attempts at manipulation of the narrative.

The Bishops Conference never elected George to its top job, even when the Pope made him a Cardinal.

Very very well said.

Justice Weinberg appears to share my view. So not that overwhelming.
