I read that Pendles was Abusing Cox during the Cats game on Thursday for being Lazy and Not putting in 100% when he did not have the Ball.

For One I am glad that Pendles was not going to take that and told Cox in no Certain means what he thought about it and him letting down the side. Shows that Pendles has Captaincy Material.

Your Thoughts?

I dont remember seeing it

But im glad i wasnt the only one cracking the shits with some of coxs efforts on thursday night

I'm with you Opti. I'm not so sure it's because of a lack of effort tho, maybe a lack of awareness/intensity. I think sometimes he thinks he has way more time than he has. Also, to put him on someone like Hawkins as he was for a period is ridiculous considering their size/weight differences.

He either tries to do too much or just looks oblivious. He'll be walking with the ball in the defensive 50 like he's 200 metres from anyone and against a team with good tackling forwards he'll get murdered.

I think these creases will be ironed out with experience tho and more pastings from pendles and co. I have high hopes for him.

It was in the 2nd quarter, i was watching it very closely

IMO Pendlebury was in the wrong, he was telling off Cox along with other players when quite frankly Pendlebury wasn't doing anything himself...

I thought it was just a normal footy thing, but the two kept on going at it.

I don't mind it, it happens in sports a fair bit. Glad to see Pendles taking a proactive leadership role. That said I hope he remember that if Maxy or someone like that let's him know he should have gone harder at a contest.

I like Cox. He takes the game on, always tries to beat a man and has pretty good dosposal on him. When on game, he could be very damaging for us. He, along with other memebers of the back 6 are going to have to stand up in the next few weeks, with Maxwell and Shaw out.

Will be interesting to see what he does, because i think he is supremely talented and could become a very good rebounding defender for us in the next few weeks/months.

Myself also, saw the whole thing, Geelong just kicked a goal and Pendles was the first to point the finger when it was his man who kicked the goal..

No good pendles, wasn't happy with that at all.. :thumbsd:

Captains should be encouraging their players and telling them what they did was wrong, not pointing the finger looking for someone to blame. Cox had a fair few mistakes so his confidence would have already been shot for the night. It's no good bringing him down further.

Pendles is in the leadership group and probably our next captain; Cox should have listened because he had a shocker of a game on Varcoe.

I'd be interested to know where you read that Dave.
Pendlebury let his man kick a goal and then pointed the finger at the nearest person to lay the blame.
Very poor form by Scott and definitely not captain material.

BTW Opti (AKA Broken Record)..... starting to sound like Big Bucks there son. Cox has been one of our better players all season. What about leon and Didak. Where were they when the game was to be won!

He was but I think there were other players that caused more damage. Fraser, Tarks and Brown, for all the good work they did, cost us the game with their wayward kicking.

I wanted to string brown up by the balls after his miss in the second!!!

the one you quoted you may reckon im becoming the cox version of big bucks but my posts are better then wixism cox is poo

Good on Pendles. He is one of the vice captains or something isn't he? He was well within his rights to have a go at Cox, who played an absolute shocker of a game and looked as though, at many different points throughout the game, he didn't give a shit. After playing well in a couple of other games early this season he seems to have gone backwards, and while Pendles didn't play a great game himself, he was far better than a shitloads of other players out there.

No he wasn't. It was his error in the first place. He should be having a go at himself rather than hurling abuse at the nearest player. Ok so Cox had a bad game but he wasn't the worst on the field and Pendles wasn't the best. He had no right to abuse Cox at that point in time.

Pendles is young. He probably realizes now he should have taken a different approach to it, but these are the things you learn along the way. He'll be a better leader for getting pulled up on this.

It really does happen quite a bit.

Spot on. He was in the wrong and would recognise that now.
Cox probably did deserve a spray but one in context would probably have been a little better.....:p

He does have a right to abuse him because he is in the leadership group. Abuse is a strong word, he had a go at him for being lazy, fair enough, Cox was lazy. Pendles error, Cox didn't put the effort in to help, Cox got a spray. It's football, people get yelled at, get over it, it's a non issue.

Agree if Pendles was in the Wrong he would Realise it after the game and would probably told by the Coaches as well.

Every Player probably does that, It's the same as Maxy Hughdson having a Massive Spray at Magurie.

Pendles probably though Cox should of made a Effort to help him and I guess by that time they where all Fustrated and Pendles emotions just got the better of him in this case

Bucks was notorious for giving teammates sprays in his early years at the club - a fact he acknowledges in his book.

It isn't really the way to go, but in the heat of the moment it's understandable.
