Ok I know this will create much angst and negativity but I'm putting it out there.
Pendles is a Rolls Royce of a player and he is my favourite player by far
But something has been bugging me these last 4 weeks his off field leadership with all the dramas on field and off field he has been really quiet on leadership skills or bar earlier last week when he said don't blame Buckley blame the players apart from that which really wasn't much of a response as we all know the players are at fault along with a stupid game plan what I wanted to hear was for Pendles to really come out and put the acid on the players and club
Pendles is no Maxwell he is more of the Gavin Brown mould where he prefers to let action speak
But in these uncertain times I really believe we need a Capt who not only let his actions on the field do the talking but also become more assertive off the field
Just my thoughts does anyone else see what I'm seeing or am I being too hard

And which player on our list do you think that is?

Our 2016 leadership group - Macaffer (not even in our best 22 with a million injuries), Sidebottom (misses games due to stupidity on the field), Adams (see Sidebottom), N Brown (gets about 3 touches a game, hardly the vocal leader).

Don't you know, you're not allowed to criticize Pendlebury on here.

I don't see how he could be described as a "bad" skipper. Not amazing in terms of his media stuff, but it's hard to judge how effective his non-playing leadership is from the outside.

If anything this just throws more light onto what an outstanding leader Nick Maxwell was.

Treloar? No, seriously. Been there five minutes I know but would he be a future candidate? Loves the off-field stuff, outgoing, super positive, works hard, excellent player.

Or Pendles plays long enough that blokes like JDG and Moore can establish themselves sufficiently to be considered.

I wouldn't discount Taylor Adams with a couple more years under his belt.

He isn't the greatest captain, but who could replace him? We have no one with leadership material.

All fair points and true got no idea what is said behind closed doors but is that why leading teams was brought in last week they need outside people to do what our leadership and coaching staff should do as I said not having a go at his style and yes nobody ready to fill the void I just think it proves a point where this club is at the moment and that's Lost

Next captain has to be a hard arse. I don't want gus that are good speakers or tow the company line and spit out pc or cliched crap. I want a guy who'll make these guys follow him, by force or words of brutal honesty.

Maxwell was a great captain, wasn't a great player by any stretch, but he knew how to rally his troops, let them know when to pull their heads in when to unload on them and how to coach on field. Most of all, his players respected him. He wasn't afraid to speak his mind. He was the perfect captain. We've lacked quality leadership since he's left. While pendles isn't a bad captain he's not someone who would be discussed in the top 10 in the league.

We miss Swan.
Pendlebury is a lead by example captain but he cannot lead by himself.
If you watched any games last year Swan was by his side, arms locked next to his captain as they entered every huddle.
He was also winking and patting the young players in his own strange way.
Pendles is the captain but Swan has the aura.
Without him it will be hard for Pendles in this rudderless ship..(no thanks to Bucks and his Leading Teams)

Pendles is very passive in my opinion. His not the type of leader to grab his team mates by the scruff of the neck and pull them over the line.
