Speaking of leaders  Maxwell said on SEN that he noticed a positive shift from our Club yesterday.

They are using terms like they "need to harden up" and he approves of such terminology.

Maybe he should have patended that term after his Copeland speech :p

He was the best captain in my time following the Pies.........Pendles learnt from the best IMO.

He is Type that I don't think was the Motivator that Maxy was and is more Lead by Action's on the Ground.

Same as the Head Coach Bucks as not great Motivator
Gavin Brown anyone?

Edit: just saw Saintly Viewed has the same opinion.

What do you think of Pendles the leader?

I like Pendles he is a champion, I have been told a few things of late about his style, very similar to Bucks which if that's true I know Bucks style didn't really work well over the years so it's concerning, the performances on field from the players isn't exactly screaming we are a close tight group who play for each other.

Honestly I wouldn't take the captaincy away from Pendles, If we had no captain and had to choose someone I would select Adams, has some real prick about him and the younger players seem to really get around him.

I think Taylor Adams should be captain pendelbury only doing it cause we didn't have anyone to do it but it time for tay to be our next captain

The captain can only be pendles atm but I believe Treloar or Adams could do it at a stretch

Throw up some alternatives... that's right, there are none. He's our captain & will be for at least a couple more years. Has pushed through injury every week this year to get himself out there, that's plain to see.

Could have been an AFL legend......may now struggle to make the HOF.

Mark Bickley is in the HOF. Pendles could fail to touch the ball in his remaining 5 or so years in the game and still make it in the first year possible.

I feel like reminiscing about Maxy too. Outstanding leader. One of my early 'shocks' after joining BF in late 2012, was reading posts which were critical of the captain. I should have taken that as a warning...

From what I have been told the players absolutely look up to Pendles. The biggest area he leads by example is his professionalism , his prep and work ethic is elite. Supposedly bringing the group together is not his strength unlike maxy who from all the reports had great rapport with everyone from the boot studder to the highest paid player.

I love pendles and I'm certainly not calling for a change but I think it is a reasonable question to be asked. People flat out dismiss the question because he is our best player but does that mean he is our best leader. I'm not sure.

Yeah Bickley is only a dual premiership captain...

That's kind of cryptic BEEG. What did your friend say about how Pendleburys leadership is like Buckleys? What are the similarities? Why is that a bad thing? Buckleys leadership as captain took us to two underdog grand finals.

That he is, but the HOF is not really based on captaincy.
And Scott is a much much much better player that Bickley.
He does the captaincy his way, by example. Think he is one of the real positives.

In 2012? Maxy was on his last legs by then!

The only question about Maxwell was whether he was good enough to be in our best 22. It was a question he answered time and time again throughout his career. Yes he was.

Not quite, he didn't retire until mid-2014. But agree he was on the decline.
