Perry Delisted.

I can tell you all now Joel was put up for trade, clubs offered picks we said no.

He went on the 3 day camp, got back and was "given the chop" in his own words.

Disgraceful on the clubs behalf, at least he was told I guess unlike Makepeace.

Worse than Freo, seriously.

Well done on the scoop RoyalBlue - good work!
Actually knew a little earlier but didn't want to say GK. Definately wanted to be wrong.

I'm fuming, I think this is a joke of a decision, I think this a decision that undermines the list management in the eyes of the players.

I think this is bad form, and terrible news.

As I said in another thread can't help thinking there is more to the Perry delisting than we know yet. I smell a story but can't seem to get it. Just doesn't add up.

Can understand LeCras, not happy but accept Schwarz, but Perry doesn't add up in the mix of things.

It's all Laidley mate.

Mate straight from the horses mouth, was delisted. North just thought he wasn't up to it.

Meanwhile Dean Laidley has a year to go on his contract.

Damn. Perry Delisted. Worth a look. Any chance of posting there bio as the kangas website have already taken them off.

Oh well, time will tell if this is a good decision or not, although I do recall similar outcries over the delisting of Dylan Smith, Rod Tregenza and the likes.

I suspect it has more to do with his contract situation and an inability of the two parties to reach agreement than anything, but like I said, only time well tell whether the club should have done any more in that regard.

FFS!

We really have a heap of young decent defenders coming through!

What happens if Brown/Petrie/Watt/Hay get injured or more likely play ********? We play the undersized Pratt/Gibson/Firitto there or are we hoping that Hansen falls to pick 3?

And Schwarze as well? Not as unhappy about his chop, but he looked decent.

If we chopped them to draft ********ing Cameron Cloke....

All the best to both, they should get picked up by other clubs and play to the potential we know they have. And same to LeCras as well.

My thoughts exactly Moomba. Perry is unlucky, but the knee and bipolar, as well as some contracts deemed to hefty to pay out probably contributed to his demise. Perry is outrageously over rated on this(and TSK). Time will tell if this is the right decision or not.

I cant believe the hysteria about the delisting of a guy that has played about 20 games in 4 years. FFS, get over it people...Dont you think if he was such a gun player like the majority of people on this forum say, that he would have played virtually every game this year???

Seriously, and I think you will find that he was chasing more than 1 year and he has left for that reason. If he was worth his salt he would have proved in the previous 3 years that he was worthy of more years on a deal.

I support the club and the coaching staff in this decision, as they are the ones not us, who see Perry in action day in day out, they know his character, his limitations and his abilities.

You dont just let a supposed KP star walk out of the club unless there are other circumstances and issues at play!!

So how about showing some faith in their decisions. They will be judged on their results come the end of next season.

And finally, If Richmond are so keen on him then I suspect that says everything, because Richmond are ********, have always been ******** and will continue to be ********.

I fail to see how Perry, who has shown he can play at AFL level, would not be better value than some speculative 80th pick young kid.
Especially when we have no young tall defenders.
And what is our club doing wrong if we have failed to develop yet another young player. Becoming a recurring theme.

With statements like that...

The bloke was drafted with a year to go (plus his year 12 ahead on him) in the u18 comp because he was teemed a 'project player'. You can writeoff year 1 for that reason and by year 2 he was on a level with most other KPPs drafted out of the comp.

So we put the time of him, the guy looks decent enough in his few senior outings (first Wiz cup hitout outmarks Cam Mooney in a contest - not a bad 1st senior effort eh?) and shows some aggression, poise and skill.

We now have an early 20s, 193ish athletic potential key defender who doesn't shirk the contest and knows what to do with the pill.

And most likely will go on and play good footy elsewhere...

All the while Eddie Sansbury and Leigh Brown enter their 4th and 5th years on the list respectively after been given a zillion more chances and shown little more.

Can't imagine why this decision would upset any supporters.

I can understand that you're trying to show some faith in the club and I admire that but where is the logic of delisting our only young tall defender to be able to pick up somebody at Pick 70-80 who they know much less about or worse, "a mature aged recruit"?

People have that element of hysteria about perry because they know the boy can play and he was brought to the club as an underage project player who had alot of upside.

I have said this on many times that he was a better AFL player than a VFL player. It might of been a mental issue but he seemed like he could deliver on the big stage and loved the challenge.

Also he would be deemed a valuable commodity in terms of his characteristics. Clubs like Carlton Essendon Richmond and Hawthorn are dying for Key defenders and his characteristics would tick many boxes. Where not saying his a great player but is no mug.

I believe this was about the contract and the lure of cash and maybe 1st team football was the reason behind his departure. I wish him all the best and hope he kicks on.

Compared to a sh_it player who has played 5 good games for us in 5 years, has played every game in that time (unless injured), who played every game in 2006 in the sh_ittest of form that I've seen of anyone putting on a Blue & White jumper. Who has shown very little evidence in this vast amount of time that he'll make it.

Are you getting what is going on here? One player was showing a little at AFL level and was not really being given the opporutnities to prove himself, while another was given every opportunity and showed he lacks the balls and the ability.

One was given, what a 3 year deal? The other was given the door. Disgrace.

We have a stubborn coach and a football department of incompetent morons (and I don't use the word moron very lightly)

The Anvil indeed!

I wonder if the response would've been more subdued if half the board wasn't sponsoring him. :)
