This is a team who made the Grand Final lets remember.

And all I read on this forum is how our team is full of rubbish players who couldn't beat East Devonport (Or replace with your own local side you use).

Then how did we get to the Grand Final ahead of 14 other teams?

We had a deplorable day today, no doubt about it, but how about looking at this year as a whole with a supposed locked in bottom 3 finish who has come together to make a grand final. :thumbsu:

Well done on making it to the GF Coburg, you were beaten by a better side and by your own bad day that you pulled out at the worst time.

Thanks Andy Collins and thanks to the Coburg boys for a fantastic year we never expected.:thumbsu:

Finally someone speaking some sense.

The Geelong VFL team finished last two years ago, made the grand final last year but lost and then on their second attempt won 2007.

Don't worry - the pain of losing this Grand Final will be etched on Jackson, Riewoldt, Schulz, Moore etc.

Considering the Coburg Reserves thumped the opposition the future doesn't look too bad for the Coburg/Richmond affiliation.

Damn right.

You'd think we'd won a wooden spoon.

Great effort by all the boys to make a grand final. :thumbsu:

Dont forget they had 18 AFL listed players to our 12. Thats a significant advantage.

It was a great season by the boys and the future looks pretty good. Its very unfortunate that Andy Collins is leaving because he is a brilliant coach.

lol finally a something to do with Richmond experiences a mild form of success and it's still not good enough for us Tigerheads;)

congrats to Coburg for a good season:thumbsu:

What is Andy Collins doing?

I think that the big problem is that Coburg was smashed of their half forward line, and only a little of that had to do with the mid field delivery. Geelong had 18 AFL listed players and Coburg had 12, great stat except for the fact that at least two Richmond listed players were dropped to the reserve reserves. Not good enough.

Cleve Hughes who should have played CHF, the area where the team was smashed couldn't even get a game, why is that? Because he is more worried about the part of his hair.

JON again look lost and his disposal was terrible, Krakouer hardly gave a first effort let alone a second effort. Poster boy Riewoldt again played from behind (Weaver you were right again) and didn't crash the packs so Geelongs third tall just cut the ball off all day.

Shulz needs deleivery on a silver platter (sorry mate not going to happen at Richmond) P. Bowden racked up his normal twenty of the least influential cheapist possessions that you are ever going to see.

The list goes on, except for Jackson and Moore the other guys just didn't cut it at all.

And as for Andy Collins being the great coaching messiah, he was out matched and out coached all day. What was his second half answer....move Shulz to the backline and McGuane to the forward line. But yet still delivery it in the same manner and allow Geelongs loose man in defence to do whatever he pleased.

Great effort to make the final but a terrible display on the day.

We were only allowed to play 12 richmond listed players. Geelong were allowed to play any AFL listed player because the senior team made the Prelims.

Collins took a team that looked like a bottom 3 team to the grand final. I think that deserves some praise. We just had a woeful day yesterday. To many attempting pinpoint wormburners that missed targets. Still a good exeperience for our young playersand while not the end result we wanted they had a fantastic season and that shouldnt be forgotten.

Coburg are the Swans of the VFL.

They play small at both ends. They are built around a strong backline. They play a mosquito fleet. They use their pace to get extra numbers to the stoppages to force ball-ups and shutdown teams. They scrap, scrag, play a borderline game with umpiring decisions and are tough.

Like the Swans as long as they can keep things within 2-3 goals they are always a chance. Once things blow out past 4-5 things become tougher. They can't play that open field, running stuff.

The first half was on Coburg's terms and they did well to be within 3 goals. Once Geelong broke their backs and the game was played on the Cats terms, we were toast.

I think if Geelong lost the Prelim, it would have been back to i think 12 AFL listed players plus rookies, as that game was before the VFL grand final. But there are some pretty good players in Geelong's Magoos, as i think Prismall, King, maybe even Tenace and Gardiner would get a game at several other AFL clubs. Geelong has almost no injuries, so hard for some of those guys to get a senior gig. I think Coburg was always the underdogs in that sort if game.
