Doesn’t that make one side arguably stronger than the other? Seems a bit skewed
Yeah, it seems pretty dumb. However, the power in the AFC seems to be held in those gulf states where a lot of oil money helps to grease palms and ensure that kind of thing happens.

Although there has been a West Zone club in the final for all but one of the most recent finals, the last time a West Zone team won the ACL was 2005 (where the West had won three in a row)!

Was worried when United came at us at the start of the second half but we held in there. Two weeks time is going to be HUGE.

EFL Championship transfer record is up to GBP15m. That's about the level Ikonomidis or Davidson should move to if they leave. I'll be annoyed if one goes and ends up in Uzbekistan or the Eerste Divisie or something.

It would be nice if Perth made a nice little transfer fee from a leaving player. A couple of mill is big money in the A-League.

They can join Tommy Oar in Cyprus

They wanted to play in Singapore didn't they?

I'm not sure if it was one specific destination they had in mind but you would assume it would probably be Singapore or Malaysia.

No way we make 15 for any player from the A League. 5 million max and that’s stretching it.

Perth Glory are finally set to unveil star striker Bruno Fornaroli for next season, bringing an end to months of speculation about the Uruguayan’s future.

The move will bring Fornaroli out of the wilderness after Melbourne City finally released the 2015-16 golden boot winner last month.

The electric striker, who scored 46 goals in 70 A-League games for City, is expected to be announced on a multi-season seven figure deal on Friday.

Glory released a statement today that said the club was “set to make a make a major club announcement. Club Owner and Chairman Tony Sage and CEO Tony Pignata will be among those in attendance.”

Sage told The West Australian last month the deal with the 32-year-old forward had already been done.

He said at the time: “We’ve got Fornaroli for next season. As far as I’m concerned the deal is done.

“He has verbally agreed. We’re 95 per cent of the way there.”

Sage said that City would not release Fornaroli to Glory during the season.

Fornaroli had a falling out with City coach Warren Joyce in the off-season when the club’s highest-paid player was denied a move to Sydney FC on a two-season deal worth more than $2.6 million.

He was then frozen out of the starting side because Joyce was unhappy with his fitness, citing a lack of commitment for his continued absence.

He had a spell on the sidelines with a serious injury last season and played only a handful of games at the start of this campaign before Joyce banished him.

He continued to train with City but will need to work hard to reach the standards expected under Glory coach Tony Popovic’s tough fitness regime.

When asked about Fornaroli last month, Popovic said: “If he was available, I think he could help any side. If you’re asking me if Bruno is a good player — yes.”

I'm not saying we will or should, but that's the current record. There have been a number of GBP10m signings.

That's the sort of standard a top A-League player should be aiming for, and we should be hoping for decent transfer fee in return. 1 or 2m isn't a high profile transfer in the Championship, but it's a lot of money to an A-League club.

I'll be annoyed if we just release a player for nothing. We let Griffiths go to Roda and Uzbekistan for SFA.

Spiranovic was sold for about 1.6 million pounds. That's the biggest fee received for A-League. I'm not disagreeing with you but I think there's still a long way to go before we get to even a 5 million pound transfer.
