Just heard P Bell relocating back to perth... his forms been very good both home and away can only see this as a benefit for the younger guys to see how professional and dedicated belly is to training and his football know how...

Excellent. Can only be a good thing for both club and player... :thumbsu:

(Dare we hope he goes around one more year next year... Chuck a bucket load of cash at him and stick him on the vets' list - he qualifies next year... ;))

Just found this:

Bell to move back to Perth

2nd May 2008, 12:15 WST

Fremantle Dockers veteran Peter Bell will return to Perth after a brief stint living in Geraldton.

The former Dockers captain moved to Geraldton earlier this year to work in property development while he continued to commute to Perth and interstate for games.

The decision prompted many supporters and commentators to question his commitment to the club and football in general.

However, the club and coach Mark Harvey stood by Bell’s decision, arguing he was still passionate about playing and was mature and dedicated enough to train and maintain fitness levels on his own.

But ABC reported this afternoon that Bell will return to Perth “for family reasons”.

Former Docker and friend Justin Longmuir, who moved to the Midwest town with Bell, will also return to Perth.

Yippieyiyo - this may be the catalyst fot getting the season back on track. Peter Bell = Legend!!!! :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

For all those that doubted, you can now post your apologies, error in judgement . . .

Good for the club definately.

I wonder what the story is.. i thought P.Bell's wife had set herself up there. The deal musta fallen through or something.

He is a valuable and seemingly evergreen player. If his work ethic and skills rub off a little on younger guys we'll be better for it... :thumbsu:
I hope he decides to play on...

this is very interesting

with the form he is in, and this move back to perth, another year is not out of the question

Fremantle midfielder Peter Bell will return to Perth and train with the Dockers on a full-time basis again, after six months in the regional centre of Geraldton.
Bell based himself in Geraldton, 400km north of Perth, because of business interests and trained by himself during the week, re-uniting with his teammates on the weekend for games.
But the Dockers said the former skipper was moving back to Perth and looking forward to returning to Fremantle on a full-time capacity.
"He has advised that the move back to Perth is due to family reasons and this decision was made amicably by all parties concerned," the club said in a statement.
"Peter said he is looking forward to returning back to the football club in a full-time capacity."
Fremantle play bottom side Melbourne at the MCG on Sunday.

Seems strange that people are suddenly back on the bagwagon with Bell, and even more so suggesting he run around again next year. While personally I am thrilled that he's moving back to Perth I have to question a few of these yoyo supporters.

Got a link of my yo-yo-ing?

Great news.

Maybe business isn't going so well up there or something.

Anyway, Belly certainly is. With guys like Palmer and Ibbo starting to get tags and more attention, and Des coming back when he's fit again, it will allow Belly more freedom to gather his match winning possessions.

We certainly have a heap more depth in this area now and Belly just adds that old touch of experience and class.

I'm hoping Bell has realised just how important his footy is. Seemed devastated after the Adelaide loss, which was good to see. He still cares immensely.

What I would give to have the following midfield of fit players in 09:

Bell
Hasleby
Palmer
Headland
J.Carr
Black
Mundy
Mi.Johnson
Pavlich
Schammer
Ma.Johnson
Peake
Crowley
Dodd
Browne
Drum
Gilmore
Ibbo
Foster
Solomon
Webster

All 21 of them. :D

Maybe he has discovered what a lot of us West Aussies already know? Fly in/out ain't for everybody. Nothing like living in the town you work in and come home to the family every night.

I know he has his business in Geraldton but he managed that for a few years in Perth comfortably before he made the move.

Great news anyway. But wouldn't hold my breath for next year. But I live in hope:D

How are the media going to twist this one?

After having so much of a field day about the move originally, they must be wracking their brains about how to put a negative spin on this new development.

Embarrassment For Freo as Bell Admits Big Mistake.

Fremantle today have egg on their face as Peter Bell's decision yesterday to return to Perth confirmed what this newspaper suspected all along - that his decision to try play out of Geraldton was a huge mistake on his part and even more so on the part of the Dockers for allowing it.
[Story continues inside...]

Negative headline which sounds like a quote but isn't - check. Gloating opinion masquerading as balanced news reporting - check.

Being a football writer must be a piss easy job.

Ahhh, but you overlooked one check point.

In the interests of "balance" include separate puff piece about how well west coast are looking for their future development and ensure that several letters to the editor provide opinions backing up the views spouted in one or both articles.

where was that article from?

im glad belly is back, but geez it pisses me off that the media will jump into freo at any chance. belly has been great this year and they still jump down his throat. drives me insane.

Which ones called for his axing...?

I sit with Peter's brother.

I will see if I can find out why he's decided to come back.
