Helliar did some great sketches under the title 'Other Peoples Lives' on the channel nine version of Rove.
In one sketch he played John, a compulsive commerical radio station competition entrant:
John: We're tracking down the Black Thunders. They're giving away new prize packs containing new Taco flavoured milk. It's good to get out of the office every now and then you know. There's only so many Bryan Adams triple plays you can listen to before you go a little stir crazy....I havn't got a favourite radio station, in fact I love them all evenly. Comercial radio stations these days offer so much variety - they play everything from Chisel to Barnsey, Aussie Crawl to James Reyne...the only station I refuse to listen to is Triple J. They don't have enough giveaways. I mean what's the point of a radio station that doesn't give away icy cold cans of Coke...and they don't play Billy Joel...
And as Colin, the organiser of the office footy tipping:
COLIN: Sweeps, I refuse to run sweeps. You don't need any skill to win a sweep. Footy tipping competitions, they're all about bravery, courage, punctuality. You have to get your tips in at 5 'o clock on a Friday, otherwise you'll get the away teams and if the Dockers are playing at Waverly, you're in big trouble mister...
