What age is he?
Good question mate - shame somebody hasn't already said it in this thread.
He's only 24 years old as well and most bowlers don't hit their peak until around 29-30.

Somebody who knows for sure will either confirm/deny, but I'm pretty sure he hasn't actually played a hell of a lot of First Class Cricket - like, less then 30 matches, including Tests?
Dermie has played 21 first class matches (including Tests).

As for improvement; Warnie reckons he'll be the best bowler in the world in a couple of years - that's good enough for me.
Aside from that - love him too; heart as big as Phar Lap, aggression, passion, keeps going and going - he's a champion. He's the Katich of our bowling line up. Said it before, will say it again, the way he went after Steyn, and the way he stood up to Steyn's return barrage, was awesome, it made him, and it really set the stage for the Series.
Only complaint so far - first innings, he hit Bopara in the throat, which was great; but the chin music should've continued. Should've been bouncer after bouncer after bouncer - hit them, hurt them, keep going at them.

I love Siddle.
Young, good pace, just keeps charging in all day, can move the ball and he gets wickets consistently.
Can't ask for a lot more than that - and his capacity for improvement is huge.
Don't really agree with that fast-tracked thing either. Maybe to start with, but he didn't take long at all to justify his position - and he's clearly there on merit at the minute.
Let me preface this by saying I'm a big an of Siddle - he's got a massive heart and will run in all day, no matter what, and I believe he has a big future.
But, at present, he is struggling to have any impact what so ever.
This summer he is averaging around 68, and has only taken 26 wickets in his last 9 Tests.
A batsman with similar output would (should) be dropped; Siddle should be too. No shame in it, but send him back to the Domestic Comp until he starts performing.
If he could just get wickets off rubbish balls that Bollinger got he'd be fine. Just needs a few of them good balls to get a edge to the keeper or slips (barring North) then he'll get more confiidence but I'll probably get shot down for backing him up once again so let me have it.
Funny you should mention North as the OP did say a batsman performing as badly would be dropped, yet North survives*cue guy who says he is batting better than marcus north.
Very lucky that Hilfenhaus got injured.
I think it's Bollinger that's lucky Hilfenhaus got injured. If Hilf had stayed fit then the rug wouldn't have got a look in.
Would have played at Perth and then Siddle would have been dropped for Boxing Day
