8 - Wood

24 - ADELAIDE - Mark Le Cras
(West Perth), 30 August 1986, 183cm, 74kg

28 - ADELAIDE - Heath Grundy
(Norwood), 2 June 1986, 192cm, 92kg

40 - ADELAIDE - Ben Eckermann
(Sturt), 12 March 1987, 178cm, 77kg

Personally I'd be very happy with that.

Interesting where he has Monfries at 17... could it be he might slip to 24? Probably not, but how good would it be to get Wood & Monfires & then Grundy & Eckermann.... to good to be true.

Grundy and Eckermann so late ?

I must admit, I'd be reasonably happy with that combination.

I reckon we pi$$ off this guy (see below) and go Pearce instead with our pick in the 20's. A pacy outsider midfielder from SA we could really do with

Wouldnt we be happy with Wood, Eckerman, Grundy (maybe?) and Pearce.

Its nice to dream...........

Mark LeCras
Details:
Club: Whitfords/West Perth
DOB: 30 August 1986 Hgt: 183cm Wgt: 74kg
Position: Half Forward Flank
Natural Foot: Right

Honours:
Western Australia 2003, 2004
Half Forward Flank in WAFL Colts Team of the Year 2003, 2004
National Draft Camp 2004

2004 WAFL Stats:
Colts: 8 games, 6 goals, 18.4 PPG
Reserves: 2 games, 6 goals, 16.5 PPG
Seniors: 3 games, 1 goal, 11.3 PPG

Strengths: The brother of the Kangaroos Brent, LeCras is a half-forward flanker who is an excellent mark for his size. He is a good mover and knows how to find the football when he has a spell on the ball. He broke into the West Perth senior side late in the season.

He is very agile and can turn his opponent well, also has clean hands. Is creative with his disposal and very consistent. Should be fairly versatile.

Weaknesses: Can do a few things that leave you scratching your head, like kicking to the wrong option and been too slow to get rid of it. Might not have the pace to play midfield at AFL level.

Footydraft.com comment: Fairly safe selection at this stage of the draft, you know what you are getting with Mark. May not develop into a star but definitely has the talent to become an AFL player.

2 more hff/hbf types ( LeCras and Grundy) - brilliant just what we are crying out for :(

I see he has us passing with pick 56 (like most pundits).

I reckon we will use pick 56 & delist Stevens to give us the pre season pick required to grab Fisher.

I find it hard to beleive that after watching him try & get fit for the last 2 years, the next 2 weeks will make a difference.

Re: Grundy...192-92 would definitely suggest a key position player.

For example, Scott Lucas, Darryl Wakelin, Tom Harley and Andrew Schauble are all around that height-weight.

Just out of interest, would Angus Monfries' light-frame be 1 reason why the phantom drafts have him further down the order than first expected? I, personally, wouldn't have thought so...just curious, I guess. I notice that of all the prospective draftees, only Danlye Pearce is lighter.

I am starting to think this is a good chance also - Stevens is looking more unlikely as time goes on and we dont want two PSD selections now do we...

Im thinking 56 to be used on a 'project' player - Juniper perhaps and Fisher in the PSD - or possibly Ackland in the PSD

This myth that Grundy is a flanker is the biggest load of crap I have heard. The lad is 192 cm and is solid. He is probably only a year in the gym away from being AFL ready body wise.

The fact that he is capable of playing in any KP would no doubt make him a very attractive player for a lot of clubs. I think Grundy will go 1st round. If he is there @ 24 we would jump at the opportunity to get him.

I am more confused than you about Monfries mate. I very much doubt he would slip to 17th. If he did St. Kilda would be counting their lucky stars.

Except a few listings for him have him at 190cm. Third tall forward or back seems the likely option. I'd pass.

Yeah and those measurements have been taken at the start fo the year. Burgan has the measurements from the draft camp. Lets not forget that Perrie is 191 cm and Rutten is 192 cm. Both are KPP players.

I have always found that the height measurements for players seems to be all over the place. I have seen Rutten listed anywhere from 190-192

Would be very happy to have this combination and agree hole heartily that we should go for Pearce from Sturt instead of that Perth kid

i just had a quick look at the phantom draft and think its a bit off beam (eg Pt Adelaide) however i would be rapt if we were able to get both Wood (8)and Eckermann (40!!) tho i cant see that happening

and i would rather take Pearce than LeCras

and i would be p....... off if we passed on pick 56 given some of the talent still available (eg Tom Redden, Juniper)

i reiterate my opinion weeks ago that the AFC may rue the day that it did not manage its list properly to have another late selection available in this even draft full of potential sliders - and even more so if we dont even use 56 at the ND (reminds me of last year - i think Hartlett was available and certainly Surjan was but we couldnt pick up either/both because of our inept list management)

At 190 cm he is hardly a giant is he Stiff??

But he is only 17 or just turned 18 and potentially could have another growth spurt.

True mate, but then again, he might not.

However, I noticed someone said that other sources have him taller than 190, ie 192. Put it this way, let's have a crack if he has potential to play a kpp, if not, pass.

Some intersting points in his draft. He has :

Redden at 64
Eckermann at 40
Grundy at 28
Monfries at 17
Juniper isn't there....

I rate Burgan, he seems to know his stuff, and the mere fact that he has pulled some surprises in his phantom draft (different to what I was expecting anyway) suggests that there are going to be some BIG surprises come Saturday morning.

Last time I checked he is 192 cm and 92 kg. Now if thats not a KPP size I don't know what is. You have to remember that the measurement you are talking about has been taken at the beggining of the year. Measurements that Burgan uses in his phantom draft are measurements taken at the draft camp. Burgan has him listed at 192 cm and thats what I am taking him us. Having seen the lad I would say he is taller than Jericho and Perrie (191 cm)

speaking of updated stats can you get an updated list of the crows ? i think the AFC is still using heights etc from start of last year ?

Its the draft lottery, who would have imagined Watts dropping to 14 last year.
