He's a half forward and midfielder. Beep tests and repeat sprints are important key indicators of his ability to play those positions at the elite level. I won't deal with claims of draft tampering.
Perhaps, but have they proven to be reliable indicators?
I don't think the speed (level 15 is only done at 4.3 m/s) and nature of activity (continuous with low variation in speed rather than intermittent with great variation in speed) of a beep test come close to reflecting the fitness demands of an AFL game.
Players will also improve fitness levels with the right application to training.
I'm not saying we or another club have been involved in draft tampering, I'm just saying it is a possibility - rules are bent in just about all industries...
