2-Cerra
3-Rayner
4-Stephenson
5-Hayes

Could Dow make it to 6 and do we take him

No and yes. Except that kind of makes the yes irrelevant. Freo won't overlook him with one of their picks (Lions still a chance too). Cerra or Stephenson the likely ones of any, to slide.

Hayes won't go inside the top 10, let alone the top 5. Ruckmen typically slide unless they have a realistic proposition of being able to play as a permanent forward.

Yeah Cal Twomey has him sliding on the latest road to the draft podcast.

They already had the Womens Draft

Yep, before the exams. Remember their season is much earlier than the mens so they need to get into training asap in order to be ready for February.

6 Collingwood: Noah Balta (VIC)

Many would see this as early for Balta, but Collingwood need to start bolstering their big man stocks and he is the best key position player in the draft.

The problem is no-one’s sure if he’s best forwards or in defence, but then the Pies need both ends covered, so he’s a no-risk option.

An added bonus is that, at 194cm, he possesses the pace and versatility to play pretty much anywhere on the ground should a few more big guys land in their laps to fill current needs, like Tom Lynch maybe.

Compare Balta's reported intelligence tests and persona (mates with john Barnes) to say Coffield & they are v different.

Think Coff will be seen as more coachable, smart & good character, which is a key Hine requirement (thank Chris Egan for this).

Balta def has the aggression & desire, but not necessarily a pick 6 footballers IQ

Pick 6 might be a Bigger Reach for Balta than Murphu

So many good players will be available at this pick I think I'm going to be disappointed no matter who we pick :(

Also this has probably been mentioned before but did anyone else notice this comment from Brander:
I’d really like to go to a club like Collingwood or anywhere where there could be some opportunity to play some senior footy,” Brander told Foxfooty.com.au.

Seems weird to me as it's not often that a player names a club that they would like to go to so openly, even if he did try to backtrack a bit in the same sentence.

If we really did recruit Murray as a small defender, then I think we need to use pick 6 on one of 2 things:

1) Key position player. If a swingman is there, great, if not, I think a backman is more important long term. Darcy will be our key forward we can nab a hold over support until he's ready via free agency or trade. What are our YOUNG back stocks right now? McLarty? That's it?

2) If option one is not available, then the next priority should be someone with genuinely elite kicking skills. Regardless of their position

3) A combination of 1 and 2 if the option exists

They didn’t publish what that statement was in response to, but I can guarantee the question was, “would you be happy if Collingwood drafted you?”
Selective editing at its best.

Thought we'd take Fog, but hearing Coffield.

Wouldn't be disappointed with him, think its a very safe pick.

Agree. As people said Hine's Job could be on the Line and Coffield Does seem like a Safe Bet

I’m going to go against the grain, i’m pretty keen on landing Naughton. Kid is going to be a very good backmen imo. If we could grab him, a KPF, another line breaker and Tyler Brown id be pretty happy with the outcome.

Hey. I would not Complain and I have a Few Prospects I would Love us to Draft for Different Reasons

How often does a good key forward become avaialable at 38?
If you want a key forward, key defender, line breaker and Brown then the odds would dictate that you go for Fogarty at 6 and then one of the 3 defenders in Petty, Taylor and Clavarino who might be available at 38.
Really wish we had our second pick. Still think we’d be a genuine chance to get Richards at that point despite the recent talk he might go first round.

Just because Fogarty is tall, doesn't mean he's a key forward. Jake Stringer is 192cm and ain't close to being a key forward. His contested marking is pretty standard and hes not very scary in the contest. I'm not against drafting him because I think he'll be lethal at both ends of the ground but he's no key position player and find it very hard to see how he'll become one.

Im happy to take a project in Dixon at 38 or later. I rate him just as good as some. I think Petty, Taylor and Wooller all have a good chance of being gone before 38. I also think Fogarty will be gone before 6. You’re right a second round pick would be handy. Would have given that flexibility of picking one of the 3 you mentioned above.
