I would have thought Hawthorn would want to add another young top draft pick to this young group asap. Get them all building together.

We are targetting the draft and pick 14 in this years draft is like pick 8 in next years draft.
I think it gives us flexibility to explore both.So the point of the trade is to use at the draft and not to get Houston?
Nobody could definitively rate the 2025 draft class at this point. Look at the players being talked for this year, 12 months ago. It completely changes in their final year.
It will be funny if tigers have a 4 year period of form like North have and their 3 top 10 picks leave after 3 years. This trade reflects a real vic bias to form an alliance against interstate teams.
So what we now have is west coast will get a future first and second (later in the draft going by hawthorn's second half of the year) for a premiership key back. In the top 5 in the league. Which is unders
We have Richmond getting pick 6 plus maybe 13 from the sun's. Overs
Collingwood getting a first for noble. Overs
Houston pick 13 or 1r and early second to either Carlton or Collingwood which is unders
Bolton 2 firsts from freo is overs
Baker a first is overs too
But the afl turn a blind eye
By trading out 14, they probably still want Barrass or some other player we dont know theyre big on.I would have thought Hawthorn would want to add another young top draft pick to this young group asap. Get them all building together.

Well the vic clubs seem to be wanting way overs, whilst west Coast are said to be holding the trade up of barass. Now the 2 vic clubs have combined to make rhe trade even weakerBut 4 of those players are under contract, they can let them go for whatever they want. If West Coast or Port let their players go for unders thats on them. Certainly in Ports case where they are in a premiership window, letting Houston go at all to a team that is also challenging is madness unless you are getting 2 or 3 times what hes worth.

Hawthorn already have 3 top 10 draft picks from the last 3 years that are trying to squeeze into 1 starting spot on the bench or they’re playing at Box Hill each week.I would have thought Hawthorn would want to add another young top draft pick to this young group asap. When has Barrass ever been a top 5 key defender in the league? Certainly isn’t now. This trade reflects a real vic bias to form an alliance against interstate teams.

Second in intercept marks this year only behind Andrews. Far better than MooreWhen has Barrass ever been a top 5 key defender in the league? Certainly isn’t now.
Hes been around that 5th spot for years. When has Barrass ever been a top 5 key defender in the league? Certainly isn’t now.
No he wasn’t, and no he isn’tSecond in intercept marks this year only behind Andrews. Far better than Moore
Extremely naive and immature opinion. What’s makes you think Victorians are less likely to know northern KPDs than West Australians are? Sam Collins is a big name across the league. Everyone knows he’s a ripping defender.Hes been around that 5th spot for years.
Rarely in the top couple to make AA, but always just behind them.
Playing second fiddle in a non vic team tends to keep him pretty invisible
I bet very few victorian AFL fans know who Sam Collins or Jack Buckley even are, despite them both being excellent defenders who go under the radar
I mean its not exactly a secret that the non vic teams get a lot less airtime in vic, its not surprising or a bad thing either.Extremely naive and immature opinion. West Coast are not a minnow club, I’m not sure why you’re pretending they are.
Yes he was, and is.No he wasn’t, and no he isn’t
Per game fair enough, that's not what was originally said though. The best ability is availability.Yes he was, and is.
Barrass was 2nd in the comp for intercept marks per game behind only Andrews.
Darcy Moore is a long way back in the pack.
To be fair, Barrass missed 1 to a weak suspension, 1 to concussion, then got rested after the trade seemed inevitable.Per game fair enough, that's not what was originally said though. The best ability is availability.
It did take a very lean year from Moore to see Barrass have a better year. Of course Moore with 2 AA's and a premiership skipper has quite the resume that Barrass does not. Barrass is expendable to West Coast which is why they are trading him.
Even the Vic media admit that if certain players at interstate clubs were playing for Vic clubs, they would get far more recognition.I mean its not exactly a secret that the non vic teams get a lot less airtime in vic, its not surprising or a bad thing either.
