Prediction Pick your 3 for 2022

1. Cripps: he seems to be a a crossroads of sorts. Can he capitalise on more forward time, two way run more effectively and just be a bull
2. Curnow (the Charlie variety): 2 50 goal kickers up forward will create a dynasty of Dermie/Dunstall proportions.
3. Marchy: feel like it’s now or the ship might sail. Need a third intercept/rebounding tall given the loss of Jones so Young and Weiters can lock down.

Sick of waiting for youngsters, let the existing stars cook!
3 good ones - all legitimate concerns.

Cripps is a big one, if it's another poor year then the 6 year contract is a major concern

Charlie - I think 50 goals is hoping for too much. 20+ games and 35+ goals will be enough for me.

Marchbank - I'm a big fan and hope he can have a good 2nd half where he shows he can be best 22 again. Doesn't have to star but has to show the body can cope and play good footy (same as Cunningham)

Kennedy: Showed what he could do in the last half dozen games, now I want to see him put a solid, consistent year together.

TDK: Has shown glimpses, but so far his potential is still a fair way ahead of his actual output. He's had injury challenges, and we know talls usually take longer to mature, but it's time to turn some of the former into the latter.

Kemp: What will he make of himself now that his injuries are (fingers crossed) behind him?

Cuningham and Fisher would round out the five.

1. Voss - needs to bring that leader mojo and maintain it for a good 2 decades of sustained success

2. Hansen - destroy any remaining mmmbop and just bring the mmmmm to our game plan and style and overall play. Seriously

3. Cripps - come back beyond your peak form captain, we need you so

Plus about 15 more

No Newbies in my 3 - For 1st year development reasons etc.
  • Cottrell - Love the way he plays and want him to succeed big time - Just needs to hone his kicking. Too good of a running machine to let go.
  • Williams - Paid big bucks for him, and he wanted midfield time, but alas with all the new Mid recruits he'll be back to a running HB - Will he spit the dummy and slack off?
  • Charlie - could explode this year (lets hope so), but this year will test the knee.

Changes every year because some I already know are going to make it. This in no way reflects my favourite players.

1. Jack Carroll - The only player left from our 2021 list yet to debut (except for the midseason draftees) and I think he has the pace, the size and the footy smarts to become best 22 sooner rather than later. I want to watch this kid earn his chance.

2. Charlie Curnow - Sweating on him becoming the player we saw before injury.

1. Mitch McGovern - He has the leap, the pace and the kicking skills to be a really good player. I trust his kicking for goal more than anybody, except for Kennedy who is a dead eye. I love Gov's attacking kicks inside 50 when he marks up the ground, wheels around and makes the right decision. He just needs to do more when the ball hits the ground up forward. Chances are he will be playing down back this season so I'm hoping he stands up. His success will go a long way towards our success.

Carrol- best wing potential
Lewis Young- must stand up at fullback
Stocker- if he develops as a mid will change the midfield dynamic by adding toughness and using his kicking skills to improve fwd mid connection

Cerra - We've had issues for years with the important second last kick, the one inside 50. This is the guy to address it.
Hewett - Helps with the defensive side of the midfield, adds grunt to a side that has been lacking in it. Can use it as well.
Kemp - Big bodied, blind turns, speed. What's not to like?

Wasn’t Williams one of the first back at the club? Thought there was photos/descriptions from people who had seen him doing a stack of running work, maybe the week after the GF from memory.

I’m also not so sure that adding Cerra and Hewett stamps his papers re: midfield time.

Young - we need a genuine KPD
TDK - high jumping ruckman is useful
Charlie - no one else can take a half step and kick a goal from 55 meters out - handy

Honey - Will be a huge threat in our forward line and for mine will prove the dangerous foil to McKay (helped by Charlie's presence). 35 goals.

Stocker - Beast who will be stronger again in 2022. Expect more Mihocek-style obliteration.

Williams - Will be a driving force willing us forward off half-back.

1. Stocker, he gets better we get better. (LOL Adelaide)
2. Philp. he has something we need.
3. Carroll or Dow, one of these come on we're away.

I’ll select 3 players but there’re at least 9 players which I’ll watch keenly & can make real difference.
Cripps, Linchpin foundation midfielder to find illustrious form again.
Dow, to regain his composure, show us his classy midfielder abilities.
Stocker, to give us more tangible signs of engine room potential.
My mix of players added to our champion Walsh, critical additions Cerra , Hewett and revived Kennedy will make up an excellent midfield unit, possibly top 3 or 4.
We’ll be marching to finals 2022, 1st half assessment & calibrating later part of the year watch out.

Truckload of players that can make a huge difference to the team from improving individually…

1. DOW - Finally given more opportunity throughout the midfield in the back half of the year, where he displayed some of the overall damaging offensive package he has at his disposal…
Improvement with his poise and disposal particularly by foot were key factors in his game improving as well as a higher endurance base, which still needs a significant improvement combined along with a better defensive workrate which can elevate him up to a next level midfielder with weapons….

2. DEKONING - Still developing and a few seasons off being properly developed physically, but he is such an incredible talent who is critical to our entire team going forward as our #1 ruckman….
Tap work needs more work but has the overall ruck IQ to grow and improve along with a terrific workrate and appetite for the contest in becoming a top shelf modern day ruckman, can become a really great target when resting forward once his hands/marking fully develops…

3. C.CURNOW - Undoubtedly was well on his way to becoming a superstar of the competition up until the unfortunate run of injuries to the knee, a player that possess rare football gifts that can tear a game apart with match winning abilities…
It’s just incredible to see him get back up and running altogether with the bonus of playing a few senior games very late last season, IF he can somehow get back to near full capacity then he becomes a vital piece of the premiership window….

Could easily right up another 10 players that i think can make a huge difference if they can step up…

Restricting to 3 is just cruel limitations when got so many I'd love to see forge ahead and probably will.
But with gun to my head the three I really love to see have great seasons are O'Brien, Dow and Cuningham.
If those three are flying , as a team we probably progress a lot further than many expect in 2021 as I feel they can cause a lot of trouble if they combine well with the players already settled in the team.

1 - Matt Owies. Been a big fan for a while and I am firmly hoping he takes the next step and becomes a best 22 player next season. I honestly believe he could be another Dennis Armfield, his forward line pressure and tackling could be an invaluable help

2 - Brodie Kemp. The sky is the limit with this kid. If he stays injury free and continues to do the hard yakka on the training track, he will become an elite player (probably not next season but certainly over the next few years)

3 - Mitch McGovern. Career clearly is at the crossroads. If he can do a Liam Jones and somehow reinvent himself as an intercept type defender, that would help solve Vossy and the MC a lot of headaches.

Three is pretty hard, there are so many that I'm keen to see a break out or best season etc.

Anyway, my three are:
1. Kemp - I just want to see what he is capable of. So after returning from injury, is he fit enough to take on the wing?
Would it be great to have a tall wingman again? I can see him being fit and dominating the air and fast at ground level too.

2. Charlie - last year was recovery year. This year, let's see CC explode. It would be great to give the opposition a double headache up forward. You guys want to double team H. Well Charlie will just dominate then :D

3. Motlop - I just want to see what a natural small fwd can add to our team. Eddie was not at his prime. Whereas, Jesse got a great career ahead of him. He will be keen to get to know H & CC. If you can't mark them, just create havoc and I'll pick up the loose ball

I'm keen on a fair few young players and the players coming back from injuries interest me too. In particular Marchbank and Cuningham
Exciting times - finals bound 2022 :D
