I'm of the opinion that Byron Pickett has long been one of the hardest and toughest players in the league. This is the only time I think he has stepped over the line where one of his bumps is concerned. I've only seen the replay twice, but it seemed like he didn't exactly have the ideal line to win the ball and by the time he hit Begley was a little past it (I await the possibility of correction from a supporter of either side who has credibility).
I think this play was very similar to Michael Long's hit on Troy Simmonds. I can't recall what Long got but I guess it's irrelevant with the new system.
I was angered by Pickett's bump on Sunday night, only because it was a Crows player, but I'm not the sort to let this skew my assessment of what the player should get. From the two times I saw it, I said he should get 4-5. I wouldn't be surprised or disappointed if he got 3, but 6+ I agree is too much.
