Everyone think it's a two horse race this year? I like strathy to take the big one. Think May wins the league medal.

Please, please don't let it be Toc........

Signed PDFNL Board :D

Poor buggars with Mathaz threatening legal action over the gF last thing they need is Toc to win.... Mathaz might threaten legal action for taking away their premiership then as well :)

Might be a two horse race, maybe, but if it turns out that way expect a fantastic grand final!!! Go Dees!!

Definitely a two horse race and should be a great grand final. :footy:

Week one:
STRATHY v Tocumwal
BLIGHTY v Berrigan

Week two:

Why the hatred for Mathaz?

Why the hatred for Mathaz?

Not hatred at all but disappointment. I was very much a supporter of the rotation of finals for the very reason it would give clubs like Mathaz the chance to host a gf. I was proud of this rotation policy. I'm regretting it now.
It doesnt appear from
This action they are treating the opportunity with the respect it deserves. It now appears they believe it's their right to host it.
It's not a right it's a honour and with it comes responsibility. Bear in mind previously you had to submit an application and that would be voted on. Do you think Mathaz would get the nod over say blighty, berrigan, rovers, Strathy, well even Toc now who probs trump everyone? You had to prove yourself even before the vote .You also only found out well over the half way mark of the season.
I've been on a committee that hosted a grand final it takes a lot of planning and requires a lot more than any home and away or even lesser final. if you want the honour of hosting you have to do what's asked of you. It's work a lot of work. In the end it won't be the profit you make that's important it's the pride and promotion you will generate within your club, community and most important league.
They have had two seasons now to prepare here we are a few weeks out and we have this mess.
Please don't ask that the league accepts anything less than what it stipulates it's the leagues day. Id be surprised if the lights are the only issue. Remember this board GAVE them the final they didn't have to apply or face a vote. Why would the league just take it away without there being issues.why would they risk the embarrassment and stress.

But most of all I think this may force the league to look at abandoning the rotations policy to avoid this situation in the future.

I sincerely hope they get things sorted and Mathaz host the gf but sadly with all this fuss it may come at a cost to them and others.
I hope I'm wrong and they bounce back and host a fantastic day and we don't lose a policy that is so very fair to all.

One question for Mathaz, who is paying for the legal costs if that were to go ahead?

Legals don't come cheap, think I would rather put the money into facilities or say moving lights.

WILTY I couldn't agree more. The thing im worried about it is, with all the effort going into fighting the league for the right to host the GF who is putting the time and effort into organising the day so it can be a success. After the swap with Rovers last year Mathoura should of had all this sorted before the start of this season. I is great to see the improvements to the change rooms but there are obviously bigger issues for it to go on this long. There is only 3 and a half weeks to go and the problem now is, if Mathoura don't host it who will ? And will they have enough time to put the required effort in to have a successful day.

On a playing front. I can see from the outside that it looks like a 2 horse race but that is very naïve to think so. I think any of the top 4 can make the GF. You only have to look back since the split. Last year was the only year the top 2 sides for the home and away season made the GF, and only the first time the minor premiers won the flag. That tells me its anyones final series.

This GF fiasco is starting to look messy for all concerned. Surely by the end of this week we should have an outcome. I agree with what your saying Wilty, this will probably make the League drop the GF rotation. It will be a kick in the guts for those clubs who are in the process of planning upgrades to facilities on the knowledge they have a GF in 2,3,4 years. With clubs not hosting a final the year prior to having their go at the GF, would this not make an excellant time to say if your not ready to go 1yr out you forfeit the opportunity to host the GF and thus go to the bottom of the list.

Mac, you just worry about the footy, & rest those ageing bones.
It would be a Huge job to organise the hosting of the Grand Final in 3 weeks but their would be 6 or 7 clubs out their who would give it a crack i reckon. Even at short notice.

Regardless of all the issues, I feel Tocumwal should host the GF every year. Has so for some 40 years, a proven performer as the host, central position , good facilities , large ground with the best playing surface in the comp.

Theres a few clubs with good facilities and I reckon there ground Isnt the best

Did Toc get the proceeds from all the catering of the grand finals? They must have got something for hosting surely?

Gate is the leagues

Food , bar etc is on rotation between clubs just venue stays the same. Toc held a grand final breakfast which was there's

Thanks BK, that's how our system was.
Host now gets all catering bar etc. Gate is of course the leagues.

But the grand final breakfast now that's given me an idea.

Could PDFNL have a breakfast but have say eg a hospital auxiliary run it as a fundraiser for them? Just an extra way for the community of the host to benefit?

Yarraweyah to host the grand final. Good luck to them huge job ahead.

It's interesting that I've heard another club offered Mathaz use of their facilities some time ago so it appears the lights may not be the main issue.

I'm sure Mathoura are disappointed but I have to say I'm not sure how much more anyone could have done for them. Extra year, another club offering facilities, left to very last minute to make the change.

Perhaps right back when the rotations were issued they should have assessed whether they thought they needed more time and arranged a rotation swap. Easy in hindsight I guess.

I sincerely hope this does not derail the rotation system but I can see it may.

However It appears "gifting" the right to hold it has diminished the importance of the day and that it's the MOST IMPORTANT Football/netball event for the PDFNL.

It's purpose is not to give your club/community an injection of funds that's the reward at the end for a lot of hard work.

Anyway finals are here back to the tipping. I'll go Andrew May for the medal.
Who will get rising star? I haven't seen many games.
Premiers: Jerilderie 9 points.

The rotation policy needs to stay. I think it was a great idea by the board and had every clubs interests in mind when they made the decision. I think what needs to happen is each club is advised as to what needs improving to host the GF and a dead line date is given. Its as simple as if these requirements are not meet by XXXX date then you forfeit your turn to host and you go to the back of the line.

Good luck to Yarroweyah this year hosting the GF, not a lot of time to get ready but i am sure you will pull it off on the day.
If the league stick with the rotation policy i presume now that everyone jumps a year forward on the GF hosting. Picola 2015, Blighty 2016, Jer 2017, Berr 2018, Strathy 2019, If thats the case, clubs should start looking ahead if their facilities need work done.

For What its worth.
Premiers. Jerilderie 15points
Medal. Andrew May
Rising Star. Lachie Leeds.

I'm pretty sure I read the same thing WILTY, and that it was Rovers that offered their facilities to Mathoura............although I have heard speculation that the issue may run more deeper than just the lights.

Yep that's the club pretty good of them actually. Well done rovers!!!!!

I've had a look at mathoura Facebook page and going back months not one mention of the grand final whether asking for help, geeing people up to help or anything..... Until they lost the granny then there is a post wanting to call meetings etc.

I don't mean to appear to be bagging on Mathaz but I just don't think they were ready. I understand perfectly they have had a tough couple of years. I've been impressed with how they have bounced back. If they gave themselves another year maybe two I think maybe with how things are improving for them they would have been more than ready.

It's a huge day!!!

Sit back and reflect on how far they have come along this year cheer the teams they have in finals. Perhaps look to be put elsewhere down the rotation list. But for goodness sake think carefully before protesting and pissing off any support from their fellow clubs?

Oh and my web browsing extends to checking the Mathaz website to get the junior coaches contacts to pass on to my grand nephews mum so he could play his first year of under 14s there this year. He had a fantastic year and I thank them for that. Kicked his first goal last week!!!
