Actually a half decent article from Mike Sheahan in the HSUN today, talking about how all the focus is on Geelong, Stkilda and even the easy to beat Dogs.

Mike has a little dig at MM over the draw, which is probably fair enough, but overall a good article.

As bizarre as it sounds in this state, Collingwood is the forgotten player in premiership calculations.Yet, after 13 rounds, the Magpies are third, half a win behind Geelong and the Saints, their best 22 all bar settled, with one certain improvement, maybe two.

I think the lack of "attention" to our premiership chances is awesome, it allows the players to just continue doing what they need to do, without answering questions each day about how good we are.

I'd say this "cover" will stay intact unless we beat either StKilda or Geelong, as I see the fact we haven't beaten either of these teams as the reason why the media is ignoring us to a large extent.

IMO we are a better chance of contesting the GF, and therefore winning the flag then we were last year.:thumbsu:

Yeah i read that article in the paper this morning, i can see why all the attention is on the Saints and Cats, but the dogs? They think they're just something special because they won the NAB cup.

Now i beleive that we CAN beat St.Kilda and Geelong come finals time, but we'd need everyone to be at 100% and everyone to be working as a team, No out-of-form davis, No fraser back, No O'bree back, No Macaffer back, Better goal kicking accuracy and Hopefully brad dick is fit. And we NEED Presti in form like he has been. And then maybe hopefully come that time we get no other injuries and Mick makes the right decisions with our game plan, At that time is when we will be the premiers.

However, i wont lie. The way we are playing at the moment, it's just "Top-Four" Stuff; what i mean here is, in my opinion the way we are playing. Collingwood is a great top four contender but won't win the flag if we stick this way.

We have had a pretty bad run through the season and hopefully we can just take it easy and stay in the top four until finals time. Then we MUST pull out everything we have to take down the contenders.

So summing that all up, YES we can win the flag and UNTIL we beat the Saints or Geelong nobody will take us seriously at all.

Then what will happen if we beat the Saints in 3 Weeks?

Agree, I think under the radar a good thing for sure.

However, I think we are under the radar for a good reason, we have a bit to go to match it with these two.

Having said that, we were competitive for long periods with both.

I have great trouble liking St Kilda, but gees you gotta admire their commitment in one another, their cool heads, and to their game plan.

I thought it was awesome how they stuck to it, to beat Geelong.

And when they played us Round 3, we led by a few points at half time, Reiwoldt off, then Fisher injured ie their key forward and back, yet it was their game plan, not ours, that held true in the second half.

We were the ones who disintegrated ( into bombing long.) when they should have been the ones to fall apart.

We have a bit to go to match these guys...but we do have the potential to do so.

I just think we need to play smarter and not be intimidated by these guys. ( looking at you MM )

What is really annoying me is the fact that many on this board are writing us off as premiership contenders! The amount of times I've read that we are only 'an outside chance' is outrageous.

The way I see it we are a huge chance for the title, our list is no longer in a rebuilding stage focused on youth, we have the personal to win the flag this year.

FFS we are 2 points behind Geelong and St.kilda with a harder draw so far and people on this board are writing us off!

Collingwood doesn't fly under the radar, the club does not have the ability to do so with the amount of press attention they get. Having an article written on how we're flying under the radar is almost oxymoronic in a way. Having said that, I'd thrilled with the position we're in, and I certainly wouldn't want to be in the Cats or Saints position being favourites.

We are a chance but we are an outside chance becuase we have played so poorly against these two teams so unless we beat them we will just remain an outside chance. Ladder doesnt really matter that much becuase its finals what matters the most and we have conistantly failed in finals. I will keep the lid on even if we beat the saints and the cats becuase it doesnt really mean anything if we lose again in the finals. I dont wanna get to excited and be let down once again.

We have no hope this year, seasons over. can't kick straight to save our life and injuries will kill us.
shhhh let them think that hehe.
