I was watching the Pie show and there was a story about how Collingwood gets the sons of ex-players in for a "training session" during the school holidays.

Alan Richardson's son was the interviewer and he asked all the kids about their dads.....who happened to be Gavin Brown, Daics, Presti etc.

At the end there was a final snapshot of the "2022 premiership team" with all the kids lined up. It brought a big smile to my face. All the kids said that they wanted to play at the same club as their dad....and for some of them, it might be the start of life-long friendships.

Just another example of fabulous forward thinking by the club. Instead of just sitting around and waiting for the kids to register for father-son, they've gone out to encourage the kids to follow in their fathers' footsteps.

You'd hope they all want to play for the pies! I remember hearing the other day that Daic's boy was a Carlton supporter at some stage...nearly ran off the road...

I like how Riley Prestigiacomo has now said more words on TV than Simon Prestigiacomo.

It's scary how much Tyler Brown looks like Rowdy. Oh man, I hope his prediction that he will be a better player than his dad will come true. A team with a player that good on it would be unbeatable.

I thought that too, spitting image of his dad.

haha so true! :thumbsu:

And yep, that was the first thing that came to mind, very scary! Collingwood has a bright future for a long time.

A lot of the clubs have a father son academy set up these days and I agree that is a great idea.

Hopefully there are training sessions on how much you have to hate essendon and collingwood. ;)

I still can't believe people are against the father son rule, I think its one of the great things about our game.

It's weird how no one needs training lessons to be able to hate Carlton. When I was at Uni years ago, I asked a very learned psychologist why it was so. He said that it was genetic. There was a positive correlation between the intelligence gene and the likelihood of someone having the "hate carlton" gene.... I asked him to put it in "ordinary words" for my Carlton friends. He said that as intelligence increases, there is increased likelihood that the person will hate Carlton...

I love science...
