If the Pies were looking at moving Didak on it would be to GWS to get O'Meara in the mini draft.

Didak is the type of player any new club would want as he is marketable and kicks goals whilst carrying on like a rock star. Fans love him for it.

Didak + Goldsack for O'Meara would get them pretty close IMO.

where do i sign

Why's Wellingham's name being mentioned?

Incredibly frustrating player. All the tools, but close to the most inconsistent midfielder I can recall seeing. Will look like Judd for a quarter, and then won't touch the ball for 3, etc...

Plays a very important role for you guys though, as a run with at stoppages. I'd be more than happy to take him off your hands.

Anyway, back on topic

Has done it a few times, but it's not a regular occurrence (this sentence can be applied to any aspect of Wellingham's game, really :o)

It's not like we'd be looking to dump him, but I think he's one of the very few Pies that are actually overrated a bit on BF. Not in our best 15 or so, but required as a pacy inside mid.

I see what you did there.:D

If Collingwood are putting any pies on the table it is probably because they are Potato pies.

Dawes just re-signed, Goldsack, Sinclair, Rounds and Blair are all contracted.

Buckley really wants to keep Macaffer around supposedly, decision might get taken out of his hands but I'd doubt it. Oh and Brad Scott is a big fan of McCarthy, if he does ask to leave it's almost certain he'll go to North.

Can't really say much about the player as I don't recall ever seeing him play, if I have seen him I don't remember him.

If he was keen on moving on due to a lack of opportunity I am not sure our midfield is the right destination, I know at this point in time it is not the best performing midfield but we have picked up a lot of quality mids over the last few years, it could be a worse environment in a year or two for him than where he is at present.

I don't think Dawes is on the table but I'd love to see him at North, was keen on him the year he was drafted despite having a bung leg. With no Anthony and nobody in the wings that I know of and Brown retiring I can't see Pies letting Dawes go.

McCarthy couldn't pick a worse place than North to move to tbh.

We've got alot of midfielders his age or younger on the list, all highly rated through the draft, and are building one of the better groups.

He'd be competiting with Cunnington, Atley, Harper, Ziebell, Bastinac, Greenwood, Adams, Speight; not to mention Swallow, Wells and Harvey demand spots.

He'd be playing 90% of the year in the VFL, like he already is........

We need some quality half backs, and he aint one.....

I think you're forgetting that 2011 happened for Didak. Didak isn't worth half what he was last season. He's 28 - should be in his prime but instead regressed to a shadow of the player he was. No club would want to take a punt on him at that sort of price with the MASSIVE question marks over his head.

Not going to get into a shitfight about player A vs. player B or how good your midfield will eventually be, but you can rest assured that if Scott trades for McCarthy, he will play. He'd know him and his talents very well.

For those who haven't seen him, he's a tallish inside mid with good to very good pace, good overhead and hard at the ball. Downsides are that he's a very straight-line player (i.e. not much creativity either in terms of disposal or evasiveness) and his kicking can be erratic under pressure.

If he stays injury free (has been a problem) and is played in the midfield, he's capable of playing at the level of someone like Rischitelli or similar.

Spends a decent chunk of his time on a HFF as well, so he doesn't necessarily need to break straight into NM's first string midfield.

Funny - I was thinking the exact same thing. Last thing Nth needs is more midfielders...

Wouldn't mind seeing J-Mac or Caff at the bombers next year. Especially J-Mac. Should be a cheapy (3rd-4th rounder) and would fit well as an in-and-under mid. Young, fast, lots of potential and been killing it in the VFL - just needs a proper run in the 1s to find his feet.

What would it take to get Macaffer or Mcarthy?

The problem with this is...we have a list full of inside mids who go a lot harder at the contest than I have ever seen McCarthy..Actually to be honest every time I have watched him he has seemed like an outside mid that can't kick....Brad Scott has also put an emphasis on kicking...shit kicks won't have a place in the team and you have said McCarthy can't kick half the time???

Robbie Tarrant is our player that sits on the sidelines injured don't need another one thanks

Then I'm not sure you've seen him much. He's as hard as you'd like, and is very much an inside player. And no, I didn't say he "can't kick half the time", I said it can be erratic under pressure. Two different things.

To be clear, I'm not expecting anything of value for him for obvious reasons, but he would definitely help a lot of teams.

Fwiw, the Collingwood fans who watch VFL were saying the same thing about Danny Stanley and were being laughed off. He finished 5th in GC's B&F. McCarthy's a better player.

Has there been anything more substantial about the Leon Goes Home rumours? Would have expected to hear something more by now.

Id say if there were going to be any announcements about players retiring they would happen tomorrow night at the Copeland Trophy presentation.

I cant see Leon leaving the club though. He's spent nearly half his life here.

None of these players automatically fill a deficiency. I know we need a strong forward and Dawes is that, but we need a number one forward and Dawes is not that. Maybe, just maybe if Waite comes back to full fitness, he can play the lead out contested role like Cloke and Dawes can slot in as number two, but Waite is getting on and is not anywhere close to being as good a contested mark as Cloke is so the dynamic will not be the sam. Then it comes down to asking price and we are finding it difficult to find the cuts in our list as it is, let alone trading something we value on a chance that Dawes can have similar output at Carlton as he does at Collingwood.

Comparing Waite in any way to play the role Cloke plays is laughable, just laughable. Cloke is a monster of a man, standing 108kgs, and just smashed the all time contested marks in the AFL. The only key forward that is at the same level is Franklin, and yet he plays a different role being discussed. You did concede that Waite doesn't come close, but that was not before dismissing Dawes, who the Blues won't be getting their scummy hands on cause he has signed anyway. However, if Dawes was to go to Carlton he would IMMEDIATELY become your number one key position forward and by a considerable margin. The Blues desperately need a guy like Dawes, however the reality is that you would have nothign of similar value you would be prepared to offer, so there's no way you could get a deal done if he was still uncontracted.

I'd say that Beams will be offered to GC for pick 4, (thanks Melbourne and PA for the result in Round24) and from there we might offer a sweetener to get that O'Meara guy, possibly Goldsack in exchange for pick four and pick 1.

You forgot Dane Beams. Wasn't injured and has ruffled a few feathers at Collingwood. If Malthouse stayed, he'd be gone. Not sure with Buckley.

He was injured you fool. Please don't write back to this with anything else because unless you know something he didn't know then you are wrong.

Oh and Dawes is not on the table.

Why the **** would we trade someone who's only cover is Lachlan Keeffe who is a back man? And don't throw up Tarrant, he is our most apt stopper of big men.

How would u know Dawes isnt on the table? what if melbourne offer us something we cant refuse. U forget our forward line was arguably at its best when we had 13 different goal kickers a game and quiet a few smalls to lay amazing forward 50 pressure (davis macaffer ect).

Obviously we wouldnt trade Dawes without getting some cover for an injury to cloke, but would our forward line be worse without him? or could our team be better with the great things melbourne could potentially give us.

Buckley was incharge of the forwards in 2010 and preferred to play a smaller forward line with multiple targets than what has happened this year... so the forward line could be shaken up in 2012 as many times it really struggled to convert from a tonne of oppotunitys and its pressure lacked often
