"Extreme Overhead Strength".

WTF, what planet has Dawes been playing on recently to receive a review like that, because the player I saw last year couldn't mark over his head to save his arse, especially when he was under pressure.

He is a chest marker, plain and simple, and won't make it in the AFL unless he does become a "strong overhead mark".

Stupid, inaccurate review.:thumbsd:

I saw him take some Overhead Marks this Season but That's the Point that they go over the top with there Reviews.

I think you all make good points, but I don't think the writers for the club website, or the coaches making comment, and penning these reviews have any capacity or license to criticise a player. If you are concerned by this, it's probably best you don't look at the website at all over the next 3-4 months, because this is when it's at it's most noticeable.

It isn't really an overestimation...

First of all, it isn't really an estimation full stop... It is a comment on one of our current players ability.

Second of all, it doesn't necessarily reflect Collingwood's internal actual assessment of Dawes, just what they are publically saying. Collingwood wouldn't really share their actual assessment of their players' strengths and weaknesses with you and I, Dave.

it is a common theme with collingwood to overestimate there players, it comes with being apart of a big club with high expectations. At least with your current side you can talk up your side as being a premiership chance.

No more so than anywhere else, and it's probably in response to the average punter grossly underrating Collingwood's players. Up until 2009 we never heard anything but how our list was "well-drilled" and "workmanlike", and given we'd played finals every year from 2006 onwards you'd think we'd have to have someone in there with some talent. That school of thought gets very old very quickly.

If you read Cox's player review it said something like he was carrying a wee bit of extra weight during the off season after eating too much at the end of year Pie Night but he should be able to lose that pretty quickly after a couple of training runs to India and back. Cox retyred because he didnt like Indian takeaway.
