Hmmm, it's going to be quite a challenge to ensure this won't be disruptive.

I guess it has to happen some time though.

I wonder if they ever make use of those green seats to allow supporters in to watch a training session?

And I wonder what a "4 lane split level swimming pool is"? Is it where lanes are different depths? Jolly, Shae, Wood, Ceglar, Keefe get a recovery lane together, Blair and Ugle get a recovery lane together, etc?

It's kind of funny that we are spending $10 Million yet the most important thing to come out of all of this is to have our own patch of grass withing spitting distance of the training centre.

Every time I see our players running alongside the freeway to get to training I think "surely this can't be a good thing?", and soon we won't have to think or worry about that anymore.

I love the altitude room also, surely Lee Troop is about to come out and bag us for using it (the marathon runner who has been to a few olympics and never finished in the top 20:eek:).

It's for recovery. The lanes have different profiles to help different injuries. You would be able to tell who had hamstring issues, calves etc based on which lane they were recovering in. Not sure about the particulars of how it all works tbh but thats the concept. Port Adelaide have the same thing.

This is a great move by the club. 10 years ago we were leading the comp with our facilities. Now many have caught or surpassed us. We need to invest to ensure we remain cutting edge.

All the above sounds great,, these type of facilities will help alot in attracting free agents to our club, plus the fact that we train in the city not out in bum-**** idaho

As an aside, the club should do a tour of the Phoenix suns Medical dept. Has the reputation of having the best staff and equipment in world sport, especially their rehab section

Also: On triple M last night Perty said with in 5 years we will have 150,000 members which will bring in $20 million each year.
We have to spend that money on something.
Bigger and better facilities are one way in which we can stay ahead of the rest and attract players.

Well done to Eddie, the Board and Perty for thinking ahead.

I agree but I'm serious ... with all this revenue why not get our own stadium

It will avoid diminishing return on dollar to members keep all happy give the club it's own earner with endless possibilities

You can't have your own stadium, it's just a futile economic exercise.

The cheapest you could build a new stadium (80,000 or more capacity) would be $700 Million, it would simply take too long to pay off.

I actually think Collingwood should do a deal with the MCC to take over part of their area just for Collingwood games, that's the area where we can fit more of our fans in during home games.

The Pies are currently are in a 20 year deal with the MCG aren't they?

Anyway, my first thoughts were that $10mil wouldn't get the club much but reading the list things look good. It all helps the club and players in a small way. Maybe we'll see VFL home games played some time down the track?

My dream... Crushed, I see what you did there ;(

Now don't pay any attention to that mean unimaginative Mattys123.

Move the team to China, bundle CFC membership with Communist Party Membership, build the largest stadium in the world with cheap labour ... et viola, your dream has come true!

Do you mean VFL games played at the Westpac Centre?

Contentious issue that one - I vote VFL home games are always played at Victoria Park.

Gee, you can't knock the grand vision, but gee, that's got to be one amazing plan they've got if they're going to achieve it. It's not going to happen by default.

And I hope that they're not just thinking about the quantity of the members but also the quality offered to the membership.

Hmm, Communism, don't mention this to Vlad or little AA, they might get some ideas.

We might all be moving to china soon otherwise, if I can make a request, Beijing please, I know people who live there already.:thumbsu:
